I didnt follow....are you talking about the stock stuff that would go back on? I still have all my stock stuff to replace the aftermarket stuff. I hang on to crap like that for this reason

I just talked to the shop...should get painted soon and maybe be finished by end of next week. They asked for me to fax the website info for the CT parts so I guess/hope they are replacing that stuff.

Holy shit mark!!!! I'm just reading this as I don't come over 2nd gen very often anymore.
1-- I'm really gald to see you walked away from this.
2-- Your beautiful car.... ohhh man how that sucks.
3-- Utter bullshit what you are facing with these insurance companies.

I totally understand about getting rid of it once you get it back. suspension damage and what not, the car may be ok for a while, but I think shit will start happening.... and yopu never know what they STILL don't know about... can never tell what else may have gotten knocked loose.
Best of luck to you bro.

Car is still in the shop. They are replacing the sways and headers and he said once they get the car put back together they will measure to see if the springs were damaged. So maybe next week...who knows

One thing yall might be able to help me with is determining the loss of value on this car. I plan to try to get this from the at fault ins company. They way I look at it is as soon as a dealer im trading the car into sees/hears how bad it was wrecked...the value will drop a lot. The car had probably 11-12k in damage with out the performance parts. So what do yall know/think?

diminished value claims are tough. Basically the burden is on you to prove that your vehicle is worth less now than before the accident. the only way you might be able to do this is to get documentation to prove this. You would have to have your car appraised and compared to another car of the same mileage and options and show that yours is worth less. Or you can see if a dealer will give you a written offer for trade in and then see if the same dealer would give another written offer for another CL of the same year and mileage and options that never had an accident and compare the 2 values. Its a very tough case to prove b/c it requires you to do some work on your end but its not impossible. good luck

update....my car was at the bodyshop when katrina hit new orleans....its been a month now and I still cant get through to the bodyshop. There only number has been busy since the storm hit. The area the car was at was flooded pretty bad...at least 7-8 feet! If they did not pull my car off ground level it was more than likely covered in water. Soooo after all this it may still be totaled LOL. Sad part is I was told I could pick it up the monday the storm hit. Now I just need to get in touch with someone over there to see what the deal is.

It seems like even God wants your car totaled. I feel for you man. Car accidents suck. I was in one with Rezurex and it wasnt coo. If your car is totaled ( water damage ) what do you plan on getting ?

I am going to pick up a 06 mustang GT and mod it up. I will do that even if the car isnt totaled by water....it will just be easier if it is. I dont want a car note since I just got the wife a decked out armada and the stangs are cheep and have some good power.

Angry

Did any of the airbags go off? I've always wondered about Acura's engineering in airbags. My first 1987 Legend LS (loaded to the gills with ABS and and airbag) never went off when I had a run-in with my own telephone pole.

Glad to see you are ok, but man....such a pretty car to have splinters imbedded in its wheels

If it's fixed, and you don't want it anymore, you can "gift" it to me, that will save you a lot on taxes.

I am not going to put a blower on it just yet but will one day. I will start with the usual bolt on's, rims, tires, and springs.

NOLACLS,

What does your Insurance company say ?.....You be waiting a long time before you get your car back. If it was me i'd tell the insurance company to write me a check and let me buy another car...... BTW you still making payments on it ...?

Well I went buy the place this weekend and guess what wasnt there any more...my freaking car! About 1/2 the cars were moved off the roof top. There was only one guy there fixing the compressor and didnt know anything. Gates were open so I took a gander on the roof only to see it wasnt there. I should have seen if that guy had any contact #'s for who was employing him but I didnt.

The car is paid off and I am going to call the ins compnay tomorrow. Whats the likely hood they would just cut me a check??? I really dont see them doing that with no car around....but ill try anything at this point.

Bummer...

Hey NOLA, where is that bodyshop located? It looks like Lake Pontchartrain.
I think I saw that Heineken looter wading toward that place.

Well, maybe the owner of the place just moved your car and others to a safer place after the floodwaters retreated.

In any case, if that pre-historic era looter is responsible, I'll put out an APB on him and proceed to hunt him down and toss him in my ABP cruiser

That is Tulane ave and it looks like a lake huh lol. The car was there after the water went down...I saw it on the edge of the roof when I went the first time. This 2nd time is when I was able to go up and look and see it wasn't there anymore. I talked to my ins co and they cant get them either (they have been trying). They have not paid for the work yet either sooo they are sending one of there agents out there tomorrow and see if they can get anyone to see whats up. I told them just to cut me a check and be done with it but I dont think they will with out talking to the bodyshop guy first. Who knows WTF is going to happen....

That ins guy called me just now and put the bodyshop guy on the phone. They had moved my car to walker acura to get one more thing done on it and he should get it back to his shop tomorrow to do the final check on it. If its all good I can pick it up......wah! I was really hoping it was gone. Now I have to sell it Should be in pretty good condition with nice new paint and some mods.

Anyone wana buy it...
