got turbo?

I've noticed that alot of people show interest in the couple of turbo charged cls on this forum. I sent a couple of PMs to a few guys and none replied. I'm planning on boosting my car before I paint it. Can anyone help me out by posting a list of parts that they are using? summarize the things that they learned? and maybe even recommend places to purchase stuff from? I'm on active duty in Virginia so I don't really know anyone in the area, a little info may go a long way.

I'm guessing the ppl you PMed didn't respond to you because there was a search function on this forum.

Brian, your always the first to jump on someone for starting a new thread. Stop being such a dick and making up for your short comings.

But AcuraPimp, I have read a little about this, just do a search, its alot easier than asking the specific people who specialize in this area. Not many people know the real facts involved.

Don't know who you pm'ed but most of us including myself are pretty helpful with questions.

Thinjim - Turbo CL-S 6 speed
BlueCl6 - Turbo Cl-S 6 speed
Titan19 - Turbo Cl-s 6 Speed
Speedr73 - Turbo TL-p
Blk2001tlon19s - Turbo TL-p ........that's me

Those are the only people I can think of with turbos.

Good luck.

PS- brian may be right, however so was pits200. there isnt a need to jump on EVERY single thread thats started. i understand that there is a huge influx of newb posts and it can get kinda irritating (i also know that by my post count im still a newb, however i was on a-l.com for a few years before selling the legends and getting the cl-s, i know how the forums operate), but there is a difference between asking the entire forum their opinions on what tint % to get (ie- Baylove) and every other possible question u may have (ie- Baylove) and trying to get the details on a custom turbo setup. chances are acurapimp (i believe) already did search and couldnt find quite what he was looking for...dont forget guys..search doesnt have EVERY single possible answer for EVERY single persons individual questions or situation...my

just an FYI for those who think search is the anwser to all....its not. Half the time the search doesnt turn out anything close to what your looking for...then youve got to wait another minute to try other key words again. If your sick of reading the "noob" questions or whatever, go back to the menu and read another thread....no need to flame. Cant we all just...get along!?

man i just searched for my self and found a bunch of stuff. just piece all that shit together and then ask what youre missing and what not.....that makes a hella lot more sense to me that asking a bunch of broad questions, where you can have hundreds of different answers to, from places bought from, how much this and that.....a turbo setup has a shit load of parts to deal with and asking that question can take a while to answer so, no wonder nobody has responded to him, just putting together a list of that stuff can take quite a while...thats my pennies worth

if you think the thread is run by noobs and is retarted then dont go in it, just ignore it...when you post in that thread about how stupid the noobs are, then the thread becomes pointless because it turns into people arguing about who is stupid and who is not.

if you dont like whats on the radio then you would change the station instead of yell at the radio right? so if you dont like a post go to a different one, not that hard!

Thanks sirsig. the gt35 is the one that I've been looking at cause I can get one for about 950$ and the best I can tell there good till about 5oohp. But has anybody ever seen the turbos mounted away from the engine? And since we (01-03 cl) only have that little tunnel, can the exhaust be moved over and a place be made for the intake tube? What kind of insulation would prevent the heat transfer the best?

I'm sorry I feel the need to defend myself, but I'm not some little rich bastard that had my car bought for me by my selfish parents competing for my love. This is the second one that I've bought and paid for in full. So if after searching I ask a question to people who I thought shared a similar passion for these cars, upsets anyone. My advice to you as a peer would be to find another hobby or make some new friends cause your obviously not satisfied with your own life, if your intentions are to spread negativity.

GT35 is a journal bearing turbo. The one that Siggy is talking about is a GT35R which is dual ball bearing. $950 vs $1300. I have the GT35R currently and its a wonderful turbo. If you really plan to go that route, I would get that turbo. Good luck.

Can I ask, overall, what would a custom turbo setup cost with new tranny and parts and labor. I am just curious because I would like to know what I am investing into.

turbo setup ....probably been 6-8k depending on what parts are used and labor charges which vary .....and transmission rebuild is 3500(dr. evil) ...I'm guessing you were referring to automatic transmission.

Yup, cause an auto turbo is a lil easier to control and not as much setup needs to go into it. I think....

Auto turbo easier to control?
There were pictures on here at some point showing the auto turbo kit that was made. Much less space to work with than the 6-speed, but it's possible.

I'm sorry, but that last comment was funny.
Dude, chill. Brian isn't that bad. If you've been on here a while, you'll see this question come up every couple of weeks.
