Got rid of the POS CL for an S4

hey guys, i couldn't remember my password so i reregistered. I hope nobody is upset when i call my CL-S a dumpster but it was, that's not saying everyone's is, but mine was. The A/C went out at 5000 miles and the transmission died at 12000 miles, that added to the shitty paint job and warped brakes made me decide to kill it. I sold it and bought an Audi S4! All i can say is "night and day". i will still float around because this board is more interesting the audi's. Any houston meets coming up? Does anyone else regret buying this car but can't afford to get rid of it? Speak your mind. IT'S AN AMERICAN CAR!!! FUCK!! i say that to myself to relieve the thousands of dollars i lost in the deal.

Hey bud...sorry to hear of your bad luck. Mine is still humming along. I'm at 23,000 miles and no problems really. Nothing like the experience on this board anyway. I love the S4. How much did you have to part with to get it? Are they dealing at all? Or is it like the M3, no deals whatsoever?

How about winter tires? I forgot where you live but it comes with performance tires and they tell you when you buy it to get snow tires. *snip, snip* Never mind about the weather. Not much snow in Houston!

You must have a real love for Dave Matthews to have your user name after him...Man this board may become extinct one day...Nice choice though now just get modding away on that thing.

davematthews-CLS,
Glad to see you back, I would love to have bought an S4 over the Acura but it wasn't finacially feasible for me at that time (I wanted a new car, and they wanted way too much for the S4). I don't know when the next meet is, but i'm almost certain (I may or may not get flamed for this) you're still welcome at the meet next time it's held. I for one would love to take a ride in that baby

I can understand your frustration, but why on earth buy an S4 with all the turbo troubles reported by its owners?

I love the look and power of the S4, but if I had such a bad experience I might buy something less prone to early and expensive failure.

Actually, those problems (and the extra 10K) is why I decided on the TL-S over the S4!

Well, I wanted to get rid of my TL for LONG!!! Not that I can't afford to do so, but would think that it doesn't make sense for me to do it, NOW...

I know what you are saying by it's an American car and all that... I know how you feel.

The S4 is a great car, enjoy it. I personally won't get it, because for I rather get a bimmer for a bit more or a bit less (M3/330). But then again, as long as you like your car. The only think that stops me from getting one is the DAMN GEARBOX!!! The clutch and the shifter are way too long throw for my taste...

Congrats man. I just test drove an S4 this weekend too, I like this car, much more fun than the CLS. Surprisingly, the guy was willing to deal on the car even on the 02. How much did u get for your CLS and how much did u get the s4 for?

I now have over 45,500 miles on my CLS. This is since July '00. Mine was one of the earlier models. No problems other than a few rattles that have been repaired. I guess I'm just lucky. I LOVE MY CLS!!!

This is exactly what I was thinking. I love the S4, but after hearing about all of the blown trannies before 20,000 miles, I decided to take it far off the list. I do love that car though so I hope you hang around and keep us up to date on how it's doing. BTW... I really hope you got the manual....

To all CL-S owners.........
I test drove S4 and then drove my CL-S but I couldnt find
any difference but 6spd... so if you dont mind with automatic
please stay with CL-S.. only reason I got S4 was 6spd
(I really enjoy driving but automatic seems too boring to me)

It's not problems with turbo, but with a rubber boot(Throttle Boot, or something like that)... earlier S4s have problem with the boot(bad quality), and when the boot is worn/torn, you will experience loss in power....

However, newer S4s should have that fixed from factory....

I think audi owners are pretty much open to the same sort of 'defense' by saying 'Why would you buy a CLS when the trannies keep dropping?"

You would probably say that its only about 1% of the owners. Well, its the same thing with the S4s. They are NOTHING like a CLS. I don't know how people get off comparing them to a CLS.

The CLS is a great car in its own respect, however the S4 is not in the same league.

well the s4's in the us come with true HID's which are xenon, i'm not sure if the canadian ones do, i would think so. at night, you can tell, when you turn on your lights, is there a crisp blue-ish light which turns more white eventually and there should be a straight line where the light cuts off. it's pretty noticable.
