Got my quote from the hail damage...

Replace hood 493.71
Replace hood admission decals 15.50
Replace right fender 248.68
Replace right roof molding black pearl 66.95
Replace left roof molding black pearl 66.95
replace right drip molding 32.05
Replace left drip molding 32.05
Replace right outer panel (door) 225.26
Replace right belt weather strip 38.48
Replace trunk lid 517.93

That's just the parts. They are going to do some sort of special process on the rear quarter panel b/cto take it off you have to cut it off.

I'm getting my wheels buffed out n/c.

Estimated downtime: 3 weeks!

Total price with labor:

$5953.54

Holeee schmoleee. They might as well replace the entire car.

On the bright side, the trunk had a scratch, the rear quarter panel had a ding and a paint defect, the passenger's door had a long ass scratch. So, all in all, at least the hail hit the parts of the car that had damage to them already. Hopefully she'll look like new when it's all done.

Good thing I added rental insurance a few months ago.

In all due seriousness, I'm not terribly surprised with the cost. 3-weeks of down time is quite a bit, but at least you're covered for a rental.

Dude U should not be too down the stock Acura paint sucked anyways. U should get it painted like a costume coler since they have to repaint most the car anyways.
I would get A HOT coler if that happen to me..

go look the rear quarter panels are connected to the rear pillars along the side of the roof and down the side of the windsheild.

I am totally confused now!!

I know what the quarter panel is and where that is. He said that he have to cut something off.

I just didn't understand what he has to cut off.

Well also on the bright side, your car will have essentially a 2002 shell on it because all that stuff will be brand new.

Three-week downtime sucks though. After driving a rental all week, if you want to drive mine on a weekend for an hour or so let me know. Although you'll be in SF for how long? That should help a bit.

Thanks for all the positive responses.

Costco does two car class upgrades for certain rental companies and I've always been able to rent the cheapest and then bump up to Mustang, Cougar, or grand am.

Aegean---I have my insurance through Costco which is American Express. I hope all goes well and they agree. Andy said if they don't to have them call him right away so he can push.

It is true that most of my car will be brand new at this point (including the new tails I'm putting in), but I just hope I don't end up with rattles or misaligned panels when all is said and done.

Do you all think it would be worth getting the 3M clear bra since it will be like starting over?

Ah, how nice it will be to see a hood without swirlmarks again!!

just to be curious how much more would it be for a "cool paintjob"(i know that's a big area cause what's cool to one person isn't to another)
I'm thinking since they're repainting it you might as well get a custom color. something like yellow or something like that.

Damn J,

I just beat the storm in from Gaithersburg and the parents house. Oakwood got hit by a mini tornado and wrecked some shit, but the cars outside got lucky, no damage to the 240 or the Taurus. I got the CL back to Silver Spring and into the garage with about 15 minutes to spare.

I hope you get a good rental since you have to wait at least 3 weeks to get your ride back. Better stock up on Zaino when she gets back, and have the shiniest ride in Potomac.

$6 G's, thats a lot of cheese!

Yea Dent Wizard uses "paintless dent removal" tehcnique, where they massage the dent from the inside, I guess by removing the door panels, dropping the headliner, etc. But yea, they are gonna pop out 200 dings, they said they have seen worse hail damaged cars and have fixed them nicely, I will find out tommorow when I get it back.

Well, I got a call from Dent Wizard today saying they couldn't fix my roof, They couldnt gain access to the pillars and the sunroof mechanism blocks alot of the roof, apparntly they cant access it, so now I'm gonna take it to a body shop to finish the job.

the special process is heating up the dents with a pocket (crackpipe/snapon) torch, the dents pop right out, there may be some slight filler, but i mean slight - i've seen it done on hail damaged cars, usually they do the roofs and quarters, everything else is cheaper to replace (just color coat time instead of refinish)

i'm sure it will look great in the end

Well, I'm waiting to hear back from my insurance co (hopefully tomorrow) and then I'll let you all know what the decision is.

I sure do hope it turns out well in the end--right now I feel like my car has been tainted, violated if you will, and I can't love her no more!

JZ, let me know what body shop you take it to, I will have to take it to a body shop to fix my roof, since dent wizard couldn't fix it.

I thought I mentioned that I was taking it to Zamora's on Gude drive. If you take it there let Andy or Eric know that I sent you.

WOO HOOO, dent wizard didn't charge me penny for all the work they did, since they couldn't fix the roof and part of the left rear 1/4 panel, If they can't fix everything they say they can, then it's free. So I got my hood, and trunk fixed for free, now I have to take it to a body shop to fix the rest.

Sweet! Maybe you can even get the parts repainted that you need to since you saved money at Dent Wiggers.
