That car looks familiar, but I cant put my finger on who it was from here. Hopefully someone else knows and they can attest to the work or maybe shed some info on how the car was treated. Nice ride though.

i say no, you won't have the "fun" of modding it yourself.. plus he/she probably pushed the car hard....

it looks like a great car but i have a set of rules i abid by when buying a car never ever buy from family avoid buying from friends except if you know they take really good care of their car and you trust them and never buy a prevously modded car except for like rims or exhaust but thats just me hope this helps

depends on how many miles are on it and how well it was treated but the thing is you will no longer be able to get parts for it and there is no warrenty so basically if you get it and it breaks there goes about 2-3k in the cars value

The supercharger is pretty much of a waste unless comptech gets bought out. Good luck trying to find parts for it if you buy the car.

I would go for it... But not at the price they are asking of course. Get as much documentation and research on the car as possible. Anyone can rag and beat up on a car regardless of whether it has been SC'd or not. Members here part out cars which have had turbo's on them. Think those cars weren't beat to hell? And do you think they would disclose the car was running 8lbs of boost to the next buyer? I highly doubt it.

So, investigate, research and enjoy your purchase.

You people realize that Comptech does not make the blower right? Its an Eaton unit (M90 I believe). The only piece that Comptech makes is probably the jack shaft. Plus I don't think I've ever heard of one of these units going bad.

I say doooo eetttttt.

Don't shy away from this just because Comptech isn't around to support the blower. Magnuson can rebuild your blower and support can be found if you look.

When people build up a car, not always are they abused. There are people that enjoy building up cars and only occasionally use it's potential. My cousin has a neighbor that has had a Viper for 3 years and said he has never gone over 80mph in it.

It looks like Titan19's car but his is turbo..

If you got the loot get it, you wont have a problem. The only issue you may have is a clutch..

Price is high.

I purchased my '03 6MT complete with the almost the entire Comptech catalog (S/C, headers, strut brace, konis, springs, sways) for $20k with only 32k miles on the odo 2 years ago.

A fair price for that car is $17k.

Without the mods the car wouldn't sell for more than $15k to the right buyer. Maybe even $14k.

Sorry guys and gals... our cars aren't worth shit.

Mods generally do not add to the cars value. Only to a buyer that knows what they are, is willing to spend the $, & is looking for such a car.
The car though was modded to be beat on simple as that. It's made for that. Why does it matter?
I say see the car, drive it & if you like it talk down a price. $19.5K is not set in stone.

i say you go test drive it and a get a feel (from the car and the current owner) whether the car was abused or not. take your time inspecting everything to make your choice. the price may be a little high but, it has goodies you may be interested in.

Personally, I think it has potential, but I'd definitely go over that car VERY carefully before you consider buying it. Looking at how dirty the engine compartment is, that could be an indication of how clean it really is. It's not hard to just wash and wax a car before you try to sell it, but you can always tell how the person takes care of it by the small things. I'd go look at it, drive it and be VERY critical. Definitely try to get the price down. Either way, good luck...hope to see you driving one soon!

On side note, he didn't skimp on parts, Comptech SC, SSR wheels, etc. At least you know he doesn't just throw any crappy parts on the car.

I say do it. I'd pay $18k for the car but only because I know what it cost's for the SC'er, not to mention the SSR's and everything else on it. Even if you bought one for $16k that was stock, you's still spend way more than $4k investing in all those mods.

For a CL lover, if it's well taken care of, it's worth it. Period.

BTW, I was just guesstimating that this CL has approx $8k to $9k invested in mods. Personally, $19k might not even bee too bad IF it's been well taken care of.

I have 58K on my CL 6-Speed and it's SC'd. I don't think I could sell it for $19,500 if I was to try. I might be lucky to get $15k-$17K if the right buyer was to come along.

On the other had, as stated in a previous post. The owner spent money on quality parts and upgrades and didn't cheap out on the important aspects of the car.

So what the engine compartment is dirty. Mine is filthy...

lol!... my interest is having a sleeper. i want a car that looks like you can walk on it and be totally suprised when you get your ass handed to you.

on another note tho... should he have a trans cooler or any other cooling mods? if not what could have been messed up in the process?

oh crap... just VIN'ed it. 4 owner! i talked to him, he says that the car had the work before he got it. he bought it from a friend who had a Comptech "in". so he added all the parts because his buddy was giving them to him at wholesale supercheap prices. im guessing then that comptech did all the work... but still... 4 owner?! lol id never be able to sell it again!

You non-Cali guys have to remember that EVERYTHING is much more expensive in CA. I would personally hop on the one found in San Diego. That's well below market value! Forgot to ask, or maybe forgot to read... but was this for an auto or 6mt?

Damn that sucks. I'd be concerned also about the SCd one having had 4 owners already. What's up with that? And the fact that its already modded by someone you don't know. I think I'd take a pass and keep looking. 4 yrs and 4 owners and you'd be #5. Good Luck.

I give my car all the TLC a car can handle. It looks new. My engine bay is not that clean but cleaner than most. That car looks like a great deal. About the only prob it could have that you wont be able to see at the test drive would be the clutch or gear syncros. Mine has all the same goodies and I would pay more for it. I say jump on that beauty! I think I may get a set of those wheels. Even if you have to rebuild the tranny or the clutch, it will still cost way less than 3000 to do it. You will be saving way more than that if you buy the car modded like it is. I had a long talk with Nate at Comptech and he said that Magnison cna service the blower and most of the other parts are off the shelf from other suppliers. I checked it out and 95% of the blower is available somewhere else for less. Nate also told me that there parts invintory will go to someone else and he will make that info available on most of the boards. He said also that some company will pick up were Comptech leaves service for its parts but that decision hasnt been made yet. Good luck. Get it!

It's a M60 (or MP62, depending on when it was produced).

Scalbert and I discussed modifying the Comptech kit to make an M90 fit.

Regardless, Comptech really only fabricated the jack shaft and brackets for the kit. The blower itself can be serviced by any manufacturer who uses the Eaton/Magnuessen style blower.

Yup....No worries about the CT SC. Chances are you will be buying a used unit either way, so there is no warranty on that to begin with...
