This is gonna hurt . . . . Part II
Svc mgr called and said 800 bucks a side and I needed 2 axles
He said my axles were loose causing them to become elongated and later bent. I talked to a dealer out in AZ this morning and he said the only way that usually happens is if the trannie has been replaced (me x3) and someone didn't properly do it.
Long story about how I got the axles for 590 but suffice it to say I'm getting ass-raped here. I can say w/o reservation, this will be my last Acura god dammit.

I had the same problem, they changed the tranny due to a vibration, the axles and the hubs. then the problem was still there, so they change the arms, and it was fixed. funny thing was i had 19" wheels, and TEIn SS coilovers, and they still changed it under warranty. A little sweet talking goes along way, lol.
No payments own me currently. I've wasted so much $$$ buying cars over the last 15 years I just don't want to do it for a while right now. All my cars are paid off and I'm going to be buying a condo or a townhouse in Sarasota soon and would rather invest in something that appreciates versus depreciates--and rapidly! I really thought about leasing a new M35X or M45 but I came back to the realization that no payments are great. Like someone said, one payment a year is better than 12!
I don't think there is any way to get it covered fully by the warrenty. They will find a way out of it. It seems like you at least got something off on it. But like you said, you're only paying maintainance on the car, so it's not too bad.

I had this same problem back in July.
After hearing that so many other cl'ers are having this same problem I'm wondering if it was a problem among many CL's that the axles weren't properly constructed?

Shaking is more severe during harder acceleration. And as the problem gets worse, so does the shaking.
This to me is an inherent design flaw or the result of the dealer's ineptness when fixing my first, second and/or third trannie. It definitely is not something I did and even if it could be said my driving style contributed to it wouldn't you think an auto part like an axle would have a degree of safety/structural integrity built into it along the lines of 300% over-engineered to compensate for environmental/driving issues? I do. This shit really really really PISSES ME OFF.
I am going to try and negotiate a settlement with them over this. I am going to do some research and see what I can find, present it to Acura and ask for repayment for the cost of replacing axles plus labor (1180 plus labor of 168 bucks). Depending on how strong a case I can make I'll see where it goes from there. I know if I bring a formal claim in small claims court, it will cost them a LOT more for legal fees than it will to just pay me but I want to "win" this on merit, not cost of litigation.
Here's the tally:
2430.32 for 2 axles, labor; timing chain and water pump; new plugs; inspection and replace ABS modulator (which I supplied at a cost of 690 bucks).
I figure the whole shebang cost 3048 incl gas I had to replace in loaner.

damn that is a nice chunk of change right there. My ABS/VSA lights have been coming on intermittently now for the last year, they replaced a relay switch and that took care of it the first time around. I am just going to deal with it for the winter and probably trade it in next year anyway so i am not spending the $700 on the new module. No car payment is nice, i haven't had one in 3 yrs, but i guess 6 yrs is long enough to keep this car.

Tell them i hate acura because of all the defects, ill never buy one again! They will tell you either 1) There is nothing we can do about that 2)(if your lucky) Sorry to hear that, blah blah.....
I honestly have not heard an apology from them. And ive talked to them at least 5 times till now!
How hard can it be to be nice to people, especially if you are 'client services' for such an expensive item?
No customer service, I'm going straight to claims department. Don't forget, the reason the bill was so high was b/c they did the timing chain, water pump, changed the plugs, did a 105K tuneup, and changed out the abs modulator in addition to doing the axles.

With the other cars in your stable, that's what I would do
Yeah, pretty much but I also use it when I'm on trial and overnight trips around the state for business. The ZR is resting comfortably in a nice barn w/ its cover on and I still buzz around in the Wrangler when it's really bad out.
