Give me some Torque off the line, Please

Everyone knows this by now, but our cars suck ass from 0-15mph. Is there anyway that our cars can get some more speed off the line, it almost feels like it is lagging. My car is maintained good and I have a good amount of add ons.

P.S, If one person says, "Get a 6-speed", I will track your I.P address from your computer and send a hitman after you.

a ur crank frees up a good amount of low end torque and light weight wheels will also help tremendously

Thats what I heard about getting new wheels and what is a good weight for 17 inchers. But I want to be reasonable.

I know there are some ridiculously light ones, but I dont want to drop 2K just on rims, I have other priorities besides havin a nice set of shoes on my 6 year old car...

SSR Competitions FTW!

Yes I'm biased but they weigh in around 14-15lbs for 17-18"

Turning off the traction control?
If you do turn it off, your wheels may spin but you can get going faster than if your wheels start to spin with the traction control on, since it tries to stop the spinning and actually brakes...

I would suggest getting a six speed for off the line racing!!! HA, had to do it

SSR Competitions. Even with my 6MT I noticed a great inprovement off the line compare to normal weight rims.

Light weight wheels, Centerlines are very affordable
UR pulley(s)
Unichip, custom tuned

And maybe an engine dampener for wheel hop.

Thats awesome Phipark, does a Unichip actually help with low end torque.

That is an affordable upgrade if the gains are there, I have read about it but it seems like the jury is still out and some people have only had gains of 4-5 horsepower.

One more thing, what if I decided on 18inchers, even if they weighed 18lbs, thats still 8lbs per wheel less than stock.
But I heard that it matters about rotational mass and where the weight is distributed.

Would I not notice a difference from stock with 18's because of the mass being more on the outer diameter vs the stock 17's even though they are 8lbs less each.

getting light wieght wheels really helps alot. I noticed a nice increase in off the line speed with 14 lb 18"s. If you got the money RJ devotions would be an excellent choice IMO.

Well if you're serious about launches. Get a RWD car. It takes too long for any FWD car to get traction off the line etc. If you keep the CL I would go with a 3.5 buildup or an SC if need serious amounts of torque. Crank Pulley is best bang for your buck torque although it may be as much as you had hoped for.

I think the lighten crank pulley would be the best way to start ($180) and then after if you have the $ go with some light weight rims.

I like all the ideas, but I hear the SC only starts to really make a difference at higher speeds. Didn't comptech make a CL and it really didnt change the 0-60 time much even with the SC...

I guess crank pulley it is.
Plus, a carbon fiber hood, can it be painted to match my paint exactly, I dont really like the carbon fiber look.

as for the 0-60 times with the S/C, traction was a major issue. Damn FWD.

if you guys think that a CL type S is lacking in low end grunt, go drive a 1998-02 accord V6 and then come back....

I have... I drove a 2002 Accord EX v6 a couple days before I bought my 6spd. I almost bought the accord too... Got it down to about 1700 under invoice since it was Sept 02, and it was a leftover... No manual transmission, no sale tho'
