Getting Dealership to change over to 6speed
Has anyone gotten their dealership to change your 5sp automatic to a 6 speed tranny. I am about to go onto the next Tranny. 1st at 65K and now at 83K. I was just wondering if I bitched and moaned enough, would they put in the 6-speed for me. What do you think? Thx.

Don't waste your breath even asking. It is far from a direct swap. Serious fabrication is required and it is something far beyond what the average Acura tech could accomplish with the tools he has available to him at the dealership.
Did I mention it would cost upwards of $7,500-$10,000?

I have a hard enough time getting them to fix a rattle much less switch out transmissions, not going to happen. I agree with steve, its not just just like changing out the taillights, ITS A TRANSMISSION!
^^ Listen to what MrSteve has to say. He's working on a 6spd conversion
Selling his auto and buying another members 6spd
Standout, Inskip can't handle adjusting my parking brake without screwing up. I don't think you'd want them to do any "custom" work
Oh, and if you really want a 6spd, make me an offer I can't refuse

Agree way way way too much trouble to change an auto to a 6 speed. However you might be able to trade for a 6 speed version if the dealer can find one. Of course it will be used & your really just trading the car in for something else so any $$ will still come from your pocket.
i talked to a rep once about that...and he said this exactly "sorry here at acura we only trade apple for apples not apples for oranges" i just looked at him and said well thats pretty fucked cuz you have some pretty rotten apples out there on the road.
Absolutely not. The UA4/UA5 is crash test certified for automatic transmission only. Putting a manual transmission in one would make it street-illegal, not to mention a huge liability on the dealership's part. They will laugh at you. If you feel like being laughed at, then ask.

I don't believe the CL even has one since it was a US only car.
And PA, that statement would be false because the CL did have a manual transmission, so it could be legal. Maybe no the TLs though.

Yeah I feel sorry for the guys on the board that joined after Acura stopped giving out the Sema kits they had left for free.
