Getting a CL-S for under MSRP...

Just curious, do you all pretty much pay MSRP, or have there been some good deals going around?

Thanks.

My dealer quoted me $30,800 I believe.

I sure hope that price was for a CL-S with Navi! Or maybe an "out the door" price. If dealers are still trying to charge MSRP, they need to get a clue. You should be able to get this car for AT LEAST $700 over invoice if not much cheaper depending upon the size of the market you live in.

I agree with GoldTypeS. You should be able to get a CL-S with or without Navi for 5% over invoice and no more. Walk away if they want MSRP.

In the DC area you can get CL/CL-S for about $200 over invoice with or without NAVI. Dime a dozen here.

Do not pay MSRP. Search the web sites like carpoint etc. Search the posts here - we have been through this several times in the last few weeks and go shopping. In Eastern MA, the dealers are still pretty proud of their cars and not giving much, but that has to ease. Others are getting good deals - sounds like $500-1000 over invoice - remember, dealer is getting 2% (I think) from Acura on holdback.

I live in Tulsa, OK. Acura of Tulsa is really the only Acura dealer here, and they didn't act like they were willing to budge.

Anyone get a good deal in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Texas, etc..?

Hearing that others are getting good deals makes me feel better. Thanks.

Check out Amazon.com. They're doing new cars now through Greenlight.com. Put in your zip code and it searches prices in or around your area (if your zip isn't available). Around me they're selling the CL-S w/o Nav. for around $29k even. I could probably walk into a dealer and get it for less. Plus, the later in the year you wait, the cheaper it will be. The 2002 CL should be out in Oct./Nov. Good luck!!

I feel for you being in a smaller city. I live in Tucson which also has only one Acura dealer. Even back in early May (May 3rd to be exact) I got about $800 off MSRP and prices have softened A LOT since then. I think your dealer is screwin' with ya. Offer them $500 over invoice and if they won't do it, start calling dealers in larger cities like St. Louis, KC, or Dallas. I KNOW the Dallas people have been getting good deals.

Are you sure? I went to Pohonka Acura in Northern VA last week and the sales person offered me $500 above invoice.

Dealer wanted 30,750, we got it for 28,500 (Finance guy even said he couldn't believe we got the price down since we were the first Type-S they sold under invoice! hehehehe, The sales lady was new (2 months working there) and we had my fiancee, her father and her uncle there so I think we may have been a little intimidating....

Wait a minute, how is this possible? Isn't the dealer losing money if they sell it under invoice? Damn, I didn't know dealers were that desperate to get rid of CLs. Good for me cause I'm planning on getting one soon!

A dealership will NEVER loose money on the sale of a car,no matter what they may imply.
There are hidden profits(holdbacks and incentives from the factory) that we can not find info. about. My car was purchased below the posted www.kbb.com price. Do you really think that dealer paid $135 more than they sold it to me for ?

I got mine in Criswell in Annapolis for $28,810 including the spoiler ($600), mudguards ($149), fenderwell trim ($149) and the destination fee ($480).

If you subtract the dealer priced options and the destination fee, that comes to $27,432, which is $216 under invoice. Plus they sold me the front end cover after the deal at cost ($110).

I thought they did a great job at working out a deal i felt confident in signing.

Best of luck...you won't regret it!
