Angry Gas door problem

My gas door doesn't want to open anymore. I have to have someone holding the switch while I pop open the gas door with a paper clip. If you can visualize me doing this in a gas station, then you know it makes me feel like .

I took it to the shop and they said the lil metal clip on the inside of the door that latches gets bent sometimes. He bent it back and it was fine, but it started happening again.

Any ideas?

You can adjust the door by messing with the 2 bolts on the inside of the lid. Then bend the latch a little till it opens fine.

I think it's the latch that's the problem, not the hinges. What direction should I bending the latch?

Don't remember. Just try a small push in then try out. Don't go crazy. You can gently push it.

I tried bending it in several different ways but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yeah, I just took it to the dealer and they fixed it. No problems since. That was 2 years ago.

I had a problem just like this on my Accord. I just wedged a cigarette lighter (the kind that comes in a car) under the switch to hold it open while I pulled the door open. Kinda ghetto but it worked

Maybe when you pull the release handle the pin (that locks into the latch hole) isn't getting pulled back far enough. You can adjust the cable tension. Just remove the covering over the release handle and you'll see the tensioning nut on the cable.

Yeah try that.
Next is to try to adjust the door from the hinge. There are 2 bolts. Loosen them slightly & you will be able to move the door in & out, left & right, & up & down.

That's what I've been doing. It ain't "kinda" ghetto: it's extremely ghetto! Slightly embarrassing even.
