G35 Kill

My buddy is having his clutch replaced on his Infiniti so he got an 05 G35 Sedan (280hp) for a few days. There's about a half mile stretch of road right next to the 92 in the East Bay so we tested it out. I inched away from him in 2nd and by the top of 3rd, I was already about 3/4 - 1 car ahead of him. I'm new to the whole racing thing, so I was pretty pleased by the outcome!

Yup, your car with the 6 speed and all the mods will definitely pull on the G after first gear...

I am still waiting for my 07 G thats on backorder for another 2 months. I would love to see what that race would be like..

Either way, Great Kill and try racing those RWD cars from a roll, you will pull even more.

Thanks! It was a slight roll (~5mph). My friend has an 05 G35 Coupe 6spd, but he's been afraid to race me in it! I think this was his way of testing my car... LOL

Nice kill, man. That's such a good feeling when you just walk all over a nice azz car like that. Very very nice!!

How did your friend react to it? I bet he was surprised... and scared.

He was shocked! Like I said, he's got a G35 coupe 6spd in the shop right now, so I think this was his way of testing waters. I asked him to race me in his car afterwards and he said "no". He's gonna get headers, intake and exhaust, so I won't stand a chance after that! Oh well, at least I scared a G driver! LOL

Not to rain on your parade but I would have thought you would have beaten the G sedan by more with the intake, headers and 6 speed. The G's are strong out of the hole but from 20 mph on the Acura has a strong advantage especially with headers.

A win's a win! I'm sure I could've shifted faster or done something different, but I'm still happy with the outcome.

Not to be a jerk, but aren't you the guy that posted about losing to an RSX-S?

Yes I lost by several cars actually but that was before I added the XS Headers. It made a big difference.

I rather doubt that the RSX was stock.

not necessarily. those G35s dont gain much with bolt-ons.
ex: my friend who has a G35 bone stock went to a dyno-day with other G35 owners who had modded cars, his stock car put out higher numbers lol

Are you sure about that???

An exhaust gains those guys upwards of 15hp and the plenum spacers give it 12-15 hp. Thast a pretty nice jump for just two mods.

actually oaksroad was right, even w/o the headers, 6-spd with intake, you could have easily pulled on him a lot more in your 3rd and throughout the race, ive raced g35's with intake only and walked on them (mid 3rd), so yea you just gotta get use to your car a bit more, and time your shifts and you'll be taking modded g's in no time
