I have one...I would say yes if you have places to do some speed runs and 1/4 mi.

Try to borrow someones and test it out first...see if you like it.

I don't know... I did lots of runs with a gtech.
On 1/2 tank, good weather conditions I came up with 0-60 mph in 5.85 secs.
I'm all stock.

I had a friend take my Gtech to a track, and he got within .1-.2 seconds of the track time on each pass. The MPH read higher in the Gtech, but it measures exact trap speed, and not average like at a track. Seems pretty accurate in that situation to me. The good thing is, it seems to be very consitent, as long as you run on the same road, and set it up the same way everytime.

I've had good results with mine...
Like any other electronic device, I'm sure they have their share of defective units....

Got good results with mine.

If you find the 0..60 off too much when going in two directions (a must), find a better location.

They are good tools when used properly. Someone made a comment about using 3 or 4 units in a car and getting different results.

My response to this -- has anyone looked at the 1/4 mile track postings by the drivers here. A given individual will be at the same track, and have times that are all over the place on a given day.

It is a tool, and can be used or abused.

Remember -- temp, weight, inclination, and setup of the unit can have great impact on accuracy.

i just wanted to play with it. i could always return it anyways.

It is just like a dyno -- did you see the dynos that the idiot did on the car with the Cat. converter replacement. Anybody with a low enough IQ, can screw anything up.

I wonder why some people use them at the track and get results that are within a .1 seconds.

Interesting.

BTW -- If there was ever a device that I could image someone screwing up, the GTECH would be it. There are more ways to use it in a silly manner than I could write down without putting everybody to sleep for weeks.

It just goes to show you how worthless a dyno can be if not done right. Im out 50 dollars because the guy who did the dyno had no clue. Hopefully this Thursday I will get better results from the different shop that Im going to.
