Future Resale Value and AfterMarket Items
Future Resale Value and AfterMarket Items
Hey all!
Quick question...I am contemplating either replacing my 2 scratched wheels or buying 4 new one's. However, depending on who I talk to, the car will be worth more when I go to resell it if it has "Acura" wheels.
If I were to sell the car with "noname" wheels on it, will it be worth less than if it has 4 pristine Acura wheels?
Thanks!

The car will always be worth more to Acura if it has original parts. I have no intention of selling my car back to Acura because I'll get raped on it. With the mods I have, I will get more for my car from an independent dealer or consumer.

OK....but my point is...I can spend roughly $600.00 on 2 new Acura wheels that will most likely get scraped again in their lifetime (because of the design) or for a little more, I can buy 4 new ones, that may have a lesser likelihood of getting scratched but don't have the Acura symbol in the center.
When I go to trade in the car (guestimate 2005) will the car be worth less because it does not have the original Acura wheels on it?

Go out and get your 4 new rims. Keep the A one's and when and if your trade for the rape at Acura, slammmmmmmmmmmmmmmm the A one's back on for the rape show !

Just think of it this way. The car would be worth more with unscratched aftermarket wheels than it would be with scratched Acura wheels. What's the point with even buying the Acura ones again? They're just going to get scratched up again because of the way they stick out.

I really do not think it will make a difference in 3-5 years.. When I traded my Accord in, I had 3 months old tires with the car. Made jack difference to them.
Bottom line boils downs to the difference you pay between your trade and the price of the new car. When you are negotiating, you are negotiating trade in value as well as price of the new car. You won't be negotiating that your car has aftermarket wheels..
Yup! We will all be 'raped' by whomever we trade the cars in to. But I like trading in my cars as it is fast and especially if there are any hidden defects with the car.
