I don't know...all the cars are nice, but to tell the truth...an s2000 isn't all it's cracked up to be...the TT does provide better drivability. Remember this...unless a s2000 burns the shit out of its clutch....its never going to break 13s...thats a fact....as for a $300-400 chip=75hp...that's riceboy math....unless of course you up the boost and get a new intercooler with the chip..it's not happening..wait...you turbo is almost at max boost anyway..you'll need a new turbo too.

The s2k will spank both of you. TT & CL-S will be very close.

I am sorry, eventhough the CL-S is a great car, but I dont think a CL-S will win over the S2000, unless the S2000 driver is learning how to drive stick, or maybe he/she is shifting at 5000RPM. Manufacturer's 0-60MPH time for S2000 AND CL-S are 5.8 and 6.5 seconds respectively. Those times were done by very good drivers. An average driver would have no problem to hit a 6.4 seconds or better time with the S2000 (assuming shifting at redline with a fair launch), and thats still 0.1 second faster than the time done by a very good CL-S driver. But I think it would really take a very good TT driver to smoke a CL-S in 0 - 60.

Make sure you race from a stop so they'll have to get a good launch.

According to motor trend the tt can make 0-60 in 6.5, just as fast as the cl, but tt should have a better handling due to it's smaller size and 4wd. However, I don't think it's fair because the tt has a turbo and the cl doesn't. If we give cl a turbo it will definitely win... on the straight aways, at least.

In addition, the s2k will win overall because it has 240bhp and it weighs under 3k lb. It's amazing how a little v4 can produce so much power, without resorting to forced-induction mechanisms.

if you look at this page:

you'll see they tested the 180hp version?

From the pics and the article itself, it's a 225 HP TT.

"Making 225 horsepower at 5,900 rpm and 207 ft-lbs. of torque between 2,200 and 5,500 rpm."

For some reason my post did not come out way back when.

Anyways, the 225HP TT is a "chipped" 1.8L engine. For those of you suggesting that the TT can be further chipped to 300+ hp I'm not sure I'm buying that.

The TT is a decent car, but it is waaaay tooo expensive. I love Audis, but the TT is definitely the worst value they have in the US. I love my CL-S, but If I had 10 grand more I would have bought an S4 without question. The S4 is awesome!!!!! Great styling, great performance.
I personally think the TT has sub-par styling and is too small. I also don't like the interior, but that interior is trendy right now.
I will tell you one thing.... the TT will not age well. It will look stupid in a couple of years when the novelty wears off.
CL-S will run with it off the line, but the TT will handle much better. Fact of life. In my opinion the CL-S is a much classier more comfortable car.
TT is cool in convertible though!!!!

This is a quote i think you guys should see.... not saying anything about who is better... but i found it in extreemely good taste for the guys at audiworld to tell it like it is.... ..

Considering its price it's amazing there is a single creature comfort to be found. It's true that $32,000 US is hardly cheap. The point is that there is at least that much money invested in the engine, transmission and suspension alone not to mention the robust structure. The engine is a mechanical marvel. Squeezing 120 hp per litre (125 in some markets) out of an engine that carries a five year warranty and that is expected to last a lot longer is an accomplishment in itself. Making it smooth, tractable, fuel efficient and an ultra-low emissions vehicle to boot is sheer sorcery.

Not sure where you are trying to go with your post. I'm not claiming to be better than an S2000. But since you seem to admire it so much, perhaps you should of purchased one instead of a CL.

Anyway, all three are fine cars, just the CL-S will lose this race. It's fact. Live with it. You are starting to bring in cars with $5000 worth of mods into this thread which is pretty lame. Really now, maybe you can add nitrous to that Comptech supercharger and really teach my TT a lesson huh?!!

Don't bother responding. I won't.

Hey, this is a pretty funny thread. I was the one who made the squashed bug joke and I stand by it. For me the TT is a quirky little car with some kick-ass performance numbers. Comparing it to the CLS is totally impractical for most of us who need a lot more funcationality out of a car than the TT offers - for example, a TT would not pass the "sniff test" with the boss and my two boys won't fit comfortably in the back of it. 'nuff said. Of by the way, I don't loe the looks of the CLS and, to me, the rear end looks like a Chevy Lumina - so there - I make jokes about my car too, cheesy wood trim and all! So, I would expect the S2000 to beat the TT to maybe beat the CLS only cause the TT is lighter- BTW, you guys need to lighten up...

Actually, the 225 HP TT is not only a chipped 180 HP. The 225 also has 2 intercoolers along with higher boost while the 180 only has 1 intercooler.

+ the engine-head (do you call it that in english?) is modified a bit for making it stronger te be able to cope with the higher boost.

do a street start race(5mph-80 or something)
the CLS will definetly win..but they will be catching up though once the turbo spools and the s2000 finally reaches 6rpm but you will be far ahead by then

Gotta agree with the man....The Type S is tight as shit and all, but it ain't all that when it comes to racing an S2000...NOT EVEN CLOSE.

Guys, I raced my friend in his s2000 and beat him 3 out of 4 times. Going into the race I thought he was pretty good driver but on that day he was pretty average and that's why I beat him. S2000s are only as fast as the drivers skill. Pit my CLS and a skilled S2000 driver and he would walk away from me easily.

Hey guys, how about this. A CL-S vs. a Ferrari, a Porsche 911 turbo, and maybe a Viper GTS in there somewhere???Huh? What about that? Who do you think would win? What if I put 10 pairs of headers and a mule on my Cl-S?? Huh? Would I win? Or maybe you want to compare our CL-S against the formentioned in leg room and cargo space, or maybe comfort during long drives. Road-noise anyone?
Hate to say it guys but our cars are NOT High performance cars and in any evaluation in which performance is key, they will reflect less than desirable marks. I love my car, but I also know why I got it. If I had wanted a really fast car, I would have spent $8,000 less and gooten an SS or another Cobra. Please, sometimes this soard sounds like the arguments we all heard in grade school--"My dog could kick your dogs a$$...."

Well gee - so much for this thread staying on track ... i.e. "friendly race". Oh well - I am not gonna race thru the curves or attempt to SMOKE my buddies S2K (which I can't) - we are just gonna have a grin making drag race and all hear our cars grunt ... ok - maybe the TT will whistle

Feel free to close it - don't want anyone to get all excited ...

I'll let you know how much fun we have.

Later ...
