floor panel damage from metal what to do
So I drove to the kansas city national meet this weekend. It was a fun time. On the drive home 15 minutes from my house, i entered a construction zone. i was in the middle lane and a vehicle in the left lane ran over a big piece of metal that was probably 2 feet long and several inches thick had to weigh 10 lbs or more. The metal shot out sideways right at my car and i had no time to react. I feel somewaht lucky that more damage didnt happen but it still sucks. Basically the metal dented my floor board and ripped a hole in it right where the driver side rear passeneger would put their feet. Also it ended up clipping my rear wheel and taking a chunk out of it.

The flash covers the wheel mark. Anyways I was wondering what i should do. Should I have a body shop pound the metal back into shape, clean up the hole and weld a new piece of metal there or just leave it. I dont want a hole that mice can crawl into since I have rodent issues where I live. I dont think it will be worth claiming to insurance since i have a 500 deductable and all.

If it was me I would...
Pound the metal flush
Clean away the undercoating from around the hole (use a scraper or sandpaper)
Clean the area really well with denatured alcohol
Fill the hole with JB Weld
Buy a can of spray undercoating
Spray the area with the undercoating
No need to go to a bodyshop, It's an easy fix
