First oil change tomorrow

The car goes in for it’s first FREEBIE oil change tomorrow.
The clock shows just over 3,900 miles so I just underestimated my appointment for the recommended 3,750 service.

The only issue I’m having them look at is a loose E-Brake handle.
I need to pull it almost straight up to fully engage and when released it seems to wobble around in the center console a bit.
Otherwise the car is ROCK SOLID with no complaints or rattles.

I wonder if they’re going to recognize my car.
I’ve shown it to the sales guys and dealership owner since I went MOD-CRAZY, but the service guys haven’t seen it yet.

I can’t wait to pick up my BITCHIN Ford Taurus loaner tomorrow morning.
And I do hope I remember to tell them NOT to wash it.

No washes and no scratches

Make sure you tell them that there is not one scratch in your car and if find one they are dead meat...LOL...

I am sure you will be fine...
The only problem I have found on mine so far is that the cig lighter is spinning and seems lose... So I will have them look at that when I go in for my second oil change... 1863 miles and sitting in the garage...LOL..

Take a few pics of the car before you go in, just as proof, you never know what could happen, so just take the precautions.

Shawn, I definitely agree with you on the hand-brake. I too have to crank it all the way up so the car won't roll on me. Could be the beginning of the next TSB?

Yea, I always put it in FIRST or THIRD and pull the E-Brake when parked.
But if I’m on even a slight hill I can feel the car roll slightly when I push the clutch in to start.
It does this unless I really YANK the handle tight.

I had to have my parking brake handle adjusted on my Integra a couple of times (over 10 years). I believe that its fixed with a real simple adjustment of the cable.

For the record - I only have to crank my parking brake up somewhere between 45 and 60 degrees (definitely NOT vertical). I generally park on a flat surface and do not leave it in gear. No rolling that I've noticed.

If you have your tires rotated, make sure they are VERY CAREFUL with your rims!!!!!!!!!

I Changed my oil for the first time today. I only have 2500 miles ont he car, but it's been 3 months, so i decided to do it. WHat kind of oil does acura put in, I don't trust my local dealers, so I would rather just stay away from them.

Tell them to use Mobil1, there's no substitute for this stuff IMHO.

Yes, I know that.
I’m leaving in about 10-minutes to drop it off.

BTW....They use Castrol GTX at my dealer.

Last time I went to the dealer, they cleaned my car in a
"rim shot" car wash with the metal rails. One of the guys did not know that CLS rims can be damaged in these and ran it through. It took out all 5 spokes and I made it clear that if they did not replace it that there would be some problems. They ordered me one the next day.

Shawn, put that shit in shoe polish on the windsheild:

"DO NOT WASH THIS CAR, THANK YOU"

Just got back and I think I’m SEASICK from the ride back in the Taurus.
Bouncy Bouncy Bouncy Bouncy Bouncy !!!!!

They said they don’t wash cars anyway because of the “drought” we’re in right now.
Got a nice “WOW” from the service dude when he was walking me to the loaner.
And made sure to note the mileage on the car.

Just got back from picking up the car.
They adjusted the E-Brake nice & tight.
I only need to lift the front like 4-inches for full engagement now.

Shawn S

Ps.... pofi,
I’m doing the first recommended service at 3,750 and then it’s every 7,500 after that for me.

Few Things:

My manual says that the first scheduled maintenance is at 7500. I have 7K on mine and am changing the oil myself next week. But if you remember, my valve cover gasket blew and so i spewed out most of my oil at around 5K. Next week is to get a new filter in.

You're also not supposed to use synthetic oil until at least 10K, just what i heard.

Shawn, my E-Brake is the same way, guess i'll take it in...again. 3rd time to the service shop in 3 months/7K miles.

yeah mine said first is at 7500 and normally i would go ahead and not listen to that except that it said when breaking in, "do not change your oil before the recommended time".... which is the only reason i didnt change it at 3500...
and how the heck did your valve cover gasket blow? when you leaked out all your oil, did you just fill it back up - no oil change? or did the dealer do something to it, like change it.

The general consensus is that the first oil change should come at 3,750.
I think this is noted in the “Severe Usage” chart in the manual.
The way I’ve been driving since I got the CAI & Headers installed I think I can easily classify my usage as SEVERE.

7,500 intervals for me after today.

Actually, now that I think about it, I’ll probably do another at 7,500.
That way I’m on track for the scheduled maintenance at 15,000 & 30,000

i wonder if they actually do consider "lead foot action" as "severe".... i dont think it says anything in the manual about revving it being severe conditions.. yeah, it would bug me to have an off-schedule like at 11250 miles.... i would do it again at 7500 if i were you

I noticed the same play in my brake. I guess I have them check it out. I changed my oil at 5k. The book says 7500. To be safe I'm going to change oil every 5k.
