First Impressiom on Nitto 555 235/40/18 on Konig Imagine 18x7.5 :)
First Impression on new Wheels/Tires:
First, to any one who is thinking about what mod should be first.
To be honest with you, it's tires/wheels:
My first impression is that the new 235/40/18 Nitto 555 on Konig Imagine 18x7.5 are marvelous. They total transformed the CLS into another car. Not only for the look , but in the handling department too.
Yeah, you need to lower the CLS some 1"-2" it's looks like a 4x4 audi station wagon or an Outback now. But now I am happy with the new handling.
Back to performance, I am easy on my tires for now. But, man NITTO 555 pick sand and dirt like a "dirt devil" or a "Hoover" . They are super sticky. The car ride smoother, quiter, even bumps are well handled. On the HW even 90 miles feels like 45! I wonder why ACURA did not given those 18" as standard or at least as an option.
I will post another full review later this weekend. I need also to get the wheels re-torqued again when I ride some 25-75 miles on them.
No rubbing at all. Fit like a glove. I had plastic hub-centeric rim and do they not stick outside the CLS. Just flush with fender well edges. No Vibration at all. Wheels were balanced
It is a fantasitc mod for any CLS!
Happy piloting

I dunno if its just my car or what. but my tires rub a littleb it sometimes, say when im im turning and i hit a bump or something. I got 225/40/18. And 18x7.5 now if you got 235/40's and no rub @ all then why does mine? Maybe just my car? Who knows...

I'd like to know the offset of that wheel too. The only rubbing I've heard about is in the lowered cars in the rear inner fender.
The offset would help...

For you guys using either 45 or 40 (or less ) profile tires what is the ride like in terms of road imperfections? Is ride firmness bordering on being a bit harsh?
Thank you

If you have rubbing it must be your offset! 'Cause I have the same configuration as you with absolutely no rubbing! But with a +48 offset.

The first 40 miles was even better than stock. However, this moring I started "feeling" the steering wheel more. I remember those beemers used to bitsh about the lack of the steer wheel feeling. Not anymore, it is the wide tires that let you feel the road!
Still it is not bad, However the ride is tha same if not better. I feel that the CLS is more planted and love to cruse at its own pace. Once you get the tires rolling they would keep doing so. It is like flying wheel effect.

Also, light wheels really add to the effect. When I tossed those 25-26lbs wheels for the 13lb SSRs, the car is really smooth.
So -- after is better in my case.
BTW -- I'm running 39 psi (the tire has a 50 psi max rating)
