First Encounter With A 350Z

Well I had just dropped of my friend at home, so I'm heading back onto 95. I see some white lights coming up from behind me, and I'm in the middle of a 3-lane. It turns out to be a 350Z with temp tags on it. He moves over to the left lane and passes by, so I catch up. Out of no where an older model Infiniti also gets in the mix and lines up next to my right side. So we're all even, and the highway is EMPTY, not a single car on it, keep in mind its pretty late so thats why. So we all hit it, the Z got a little jump on me as did the unknown Infiniti. So I hit it, 3rd gear, im beginning to pass the Z, and me and him leave the other guy in the dust. I'm flooring it and get about a hood-length infront, I shift it into 4th (AUTOTRAGIC SLUGGISH 4th GEAR ) and he begins to pull back on me. We got up to my limit of about 148 and shut down with him infront of me by about half a car length.

I've never raced a Z before, this one looked completly stock. I suppose the results were right? I have I/H/E and basically beat him through 3rd gear. Anyone else have any experience racing 350Z's? I wasn't too superised it beat me, but I didn't think it would be that much faster than a G35 coupe (Which I have beat before). My guess is just that 4th gear just really sucks, because I had him, I was goin' strong until I shifted up. Thanks for reading!

Yeah, I had a few run-ins. They usually can't even read my rear plates after a few seconds though D=

I raced a couple of 350Z 6 speeds and had no trouble beating both of them. Although I have a stock 06 Impala SS. It seemed as though I won by about as much as the 03 CL-S auto that I raced. So you seem to be in the ballpark. The 350Z is a better handling car than a drag car.

nice run. that's crazy that you guys took it to those speeds though. i have had run ins with both AT and 6 spd G35Cs. the AT i wasted(most likely stock), but the 6 spd was a good run between lights(modded). from a 5 mph roll to ~70 i held 1/3 of a carlength.

i have yet to run a Z. i'm still waiting for the occasion.

haha. though that gear works good for your car, we have three gears that are better for ours.

and why the heck is our engine code as YOUR screen name? it should be K20 or something.

man, 4th gear definitly blows...its too bad we couldn't race from a slower roll rather than freaking upper 3rd gear...i would have had a chance to pull alot harder! its ok though, very nice race he put up

i used to have a CL-S.
3rd gear is the best for the rsx and it pulls hard all the way untill 6th then it gets kinda like the CL's 4th gear, but 5th ends at 135 or so
