Finally got my 13's
Went to the track for the first time this year, and maybe for the final time with the CL-S.
I took out the spare/jack, passenger seat, and I already had the rear seat out for my W7 install tommorow. I had a little over 1/2 tank of gas. I wasnt planning on going to the track, so I was at almost full when I left.
I launched from 3k rpm, and slipped the clutch the first 20', or so. I powershifted each gear, getting wheelhop on the 1-2, and a chirp on the 3-4.
Here's the slip:
60' ------- 2.105
1/8 ET----- 9.122
1/8 MPH---- 76.55
1/4ET ----- 13.928
1/4MPH ---- 97.33
I suspect the slight loss in mph was due to warmer weather, as my previous track day I was running 98'ish pretty consistently. Could also be due to better hook due to lower tire pressure (ran the dr's at 17psi).
Here's my mod list:
CT Icebox
17" Centerline wheels with 225/45 BFG drag radials (total weight of 40lbs)
H&R Sports
Tokico Illumina shocks set at full firm at all four corners
The springs/struts did help with weight transfer and wheelhop, but it still hopped pretty bad at 20 & 19psi. I really had to slip the clutch just right and lower the tire pressure down for it to just hook & go. The run with the 2.1 60' felt really nice, no pause in power application, just a smooth run off the line.
Not too bad, huh.

Nope, no headers. Not unless someone slipped some in while I wasnt looking.
And I wish I had started off being more aggresive with the tire pressure and launch rpm, my first two passes i bogged the hell out of it and got 2.3's.

I dont understand how you could hit 13.92 with only 97mph and a 1/8 mile of 76 mph in order to get in the 13.9 you would have to run over 80 mph in 1/8 mile it doesnt make sence to me

Well seeing as how the rotors are almost 13" dont think i'd be fitting 13" wheels on
And I was surprised at the mph also, because like I said I have run 98.5mph and close to 80mph in thee 1/8th, but my 60's were not nearly as good. Here's my previous best, which as you can see has better mph, but I wasnt hooking as good.
FWIW today's times were at a different track that are known to be a touch lower mph than the track I usually go to. I think it was more of the case that my previous times were a bit optimistic as far as mph is concerned.

Nope, not unless someone wants to give them to me.
I actually intend on making it slower tommorow. The 19's are going back and the the heavy as shizzle JL W7 is going in.
I am putting headers & supercharger on my mustang in the next couple weeks, so spending $1200 for 25hp for my daily driver doesnt make much sense to me at this point.
I really just wanted to touch 13's just for bragging rights, to be honest. I dont really have any intention on beating on the car too much.

Wow, nice 60' on a six speed with little mods and 1/4 too. High 13s w/o headers is much better than mid 13s w/headers. Just much cooler when you brag about it, haha.

Good luck Steve, you still N/A?
I dont like to boast, but I've been told the same thing from mustang guys. Most guys with my mods run low-mid 14's, and I'm in the high 13's. I think the thing is that I've been driving stick since 2000 and I've drag raced, road raced, and daily drove on a manual since then. Its all experimenting with your car and not being afraid to fawk up a shift every once in awhile.

Although my friend just put nitrous on his '93 mustang and i'm becoming addicted. I think i'm done with mods on the CL-S. He has $10,000 into the car including the purchase price and he ran 11.1 @ 122 MPH last night on drag radials in a completely streetable car (despite the C4 tranny).
