here's a stage III car done by Doug Levin Motorsports

http://www.supercars.net/garages/PeP/83v2.html

And a stage IV

http://www.fast-autos.net/dlm/dlmstage4.html

The guys viper is stage II+

I assume it's 700+ RWHP. Hard to find info on the Stage II system. More or less what the + stands for.

Stage 4 says it does the 1/4 mile in 10.1 @ 152 mph! And from the trap speed I can tell that it's not running slicks. It can easily do mid-9s with that trap speed. Wow!

You know, this is proof when people talk about smaller engines that are heavily force fed and make crazy power for their displacement. For example, you could make a 2nd gen. DSM do 11s for about $7K in mods. And then they brag about how they can run with Vipers. And then I tell them "well what would happen if the Viper modified?" Well there you go. That's what happens. 1175 bhp @ 5800 rpm Imagine if they made the engine turn to 7K rpm. Maybe 1300HP would be possible.

I agree with what you say about comparing displacements and modding them. But don't forget the comebacks of dollar to HP ratios between modding a Viper and a DSM.
