Neon turbo

Can we keep up against the New NEON turbo? A friend of mine is telling me he can crush my cl with his bone stock neon. Is this true?

Afraid so. Unless you are running 13s.

yep.He says that his car is supposed to be 215 stock. But that he is running 225hp at the wheels. That can't be true right? I mean ours is rated 260 at the engine but we run only 200 hp at the wheels stock.

they are underrated, that seems high though, but they are underrated

also they make a ton of torque i think they are rated at 240 ft-lb of it

edit: i checked their site and they changed the rating from the numbers i just gave you (which were the original) to 230 hp and 250 ft-lb of torque, and i think thats still underrated

its not still a neon, i tokk a ride in one just aslt night and they fucking move. The person who owns it has the mopar stage 1 on it, new tires and lowered suspension. He also has a mopar bov. His dyno sheet says he is making about 250 at the wheels and like 280 ft lbs of tq. That car is a beast. He ran a 13.4 at e town. And over at the srt forums there are a few oif them running 12's. The mopar stage 3 will be out soon and mopar claims 300 horses to the wheels and 320 lbs ft of tq, all while keeping the factory warranty. Did i mention that this car with the stage 3 will still beunder 25 grand.

Your friend is also true here.

SRT4s basically make about 255HP at the crank out-of-the-box.

Stock CLS? No. Not even headers and intake will do it on an AUTO tranny CLS. You need the SC to have a good chance.

A 6MT CLS with headers and intake will give the Neon a good run, but I still think it will lose, assuming same driver ability.

If you have a supercharger and headers and intake, you wont need NOS. Just good grippy tires.

But imagine what will happen in case he starts modifying

You really want to beat that guy ah? The SC wont be cheap. Sounds like...."money is no issue" to you in this case...

No money is an issue so I will have to wait a little bit. I drive my car everyday so I think I'll get it in the spring.

I called around asking if anyone can make a custom turbo for my car. They where telling me they would need my car for about 2 months to work on it and charge me around 8k for the work. Forget that. I thought you can increase the boost amount on a supercharger as well as a turbo?

Yes you can modify boost on both a SC and a TC but you gotta know what you're doing.

If I were younger I would have a Neon Turbo for sure. My dad can get tham pretty much at cost. At 36 I just can't picture myself driving one. They are fast as shit though and it's good to see Mopar back in the performance game. Chrysler turbo engines have always been strong runners.

what is an srt forum site?

also, this is a pretty small engine, is it still reliable producing these numbers? i guess the wrx is reliable enough and it has a 2.0 liter vs 2.4 liter and making a lil less power

There were 3 or 4 at the track last night. Most were moded and some were running slicks.

However, as reality goes, most aren't seasoned testers and didn't produce the big times, but they still would have spanked most of us . . . that is if you were running 13.7s or better.

The SRT-4 well driven would kill a CL-S.

A 2003 SRT4 does the 1/4 between 14.0 and 14.2 seconds.

I beat one at the track, but not by much, and right at the end. I'm not sure if he was stock or what. My mods are in the sig.

I was talking to a guy with one last night at the track b4 he ran. He said it only had 3000 miles on it and it was the first time he'd been to the track. Bone stock on his first run he pulled a 14.4. I didn't run into him again after that so I don't know if he got better. But that just shows even without any practice or experience in that car, it will still beat most of us.

The SRT-4's are very fast!! They also are capable of running 12's with very little $$$ (compared to making a CL-S fast). I beat one at the track, but I was spraying a 75 shot. If I were N/A I would have lost.

The SRT-4 is fast. It will kill a CLS auto, or 6 speed, moded or stock. Only with a SC, or NOS will the CLS have any chance, & that's only if the SRT-4 is stock.
