feasability of swaping nav into non-nav CL-S

Lets say there is a person who is willing to part with his Navi and all associated parts in exchange for 1000 dollars and all the non-nav CL-S parts required to return his car to normal condition, is this possible?? i mean im sure someone out there may have navi and not use it and could use 1000 bucks...maybe a bit more...and in exchange they would get all the needed dashboard peices and electronics to make their car a standard CL-S without navi...can this be a possibility??? if so, anyone interested????

I don’t think so.
You’re talking LOTS of parts.
Basically all of the dashboard, Antennas, drive, gyroscope, A/C controls and the Amp for the BOSE system.
That would be one major nightmare of labor.

Just get an aftermarket Alpine system.

how does the CL-S look with an aftermarket deck?? is it ugly? doesnt it need some custom fabricated dash instert due to the nature of our stock system??

Yes, your installer needs to get creative.

A couple people here have done it.

hmm, doesnt look too bad...i still wonder about the posibility of the swap of stock for stock...like you said shawn..most likely alot of labor..but lets say labor wasnt an issue, as long as the parts just screw in the same and connect to the wiring the same...<shrug> maybe?? by the way, how is the stereo amp associated with the Navi???

Didn't someone price this out once and it came to over $4k?? I could have sworn someone looked into it and it was sooo expensive. Mainly because all of the parts you need to buy are all genuine Acura, which are big bucks. And like you said... the labor is expensive too b/c you need a whole new dash.....

Non Navi CL doesnt have the harness and wires for Navi-input into the stock HU. That's the major problem!

so theoretically if someone with a Navi CL-S was willing to swap all neccesary parts to remove Navi and accept all my parts to make his car like mine and mine like his...(even the stock headunit if needed) this WOULD be possible....just a pain in the ass..as everyone seems to have pointed out...correct??? i mean if someone was willing to swap all their parts for a decent amount of money, it seems that this is completely possible...right?

I think if you're looking to do this as a swap.. then the pain in the ass factor just tripled, because not only do you have to work on getting the Navi to work in your Navi-less car... but now you have to get all of your non-navi equipment to work properly in the donors car.

Honestly... it will be 100 times easier and still probably cheaper to get an aftermarket NAVI.....

You might as well trade your car for a navi model. And while your at it get yourself an 03.
