Factory Bose CD Changer Problems

I have the factory Bose 6 disc changer and it keeps going wacky on me. It will flash ER-E1 or something like that (manual says take to a dealership). Other times it works fine. Lately it has progressively gotten worse. I bought the car about 4k miles ago and it was Acura Certified used. I still have a full warranty on it.

Would this type of repair be covered under the warranty? Also, I have the steering wheel audio control problem too. I cannot bring the car to the dealership I bought it from because it's too far away. (I had to search to find the car I wanted). Will the local dealership give me any problems on warranty work since I didn't buy the car there? Thanks

Should all be covered, at any Acura dealer.

Just a follow up post: Acura replaced the head unit and fixed the steering wheel audio controls for free under warranty.

I have an '01 CL 3.2-Type S and have recentely been experiencing the same type of problem. ER-E1 error codes flashes on me each time try to turn to CD mode. Everything works fine but the CD mode. It did get stuck before and started playing again after numerous times of ignition starts ( not full ignition ). I can't just keep on doing this to reset the player and need to know what is going on without having to take it to the dealer and get charged $$$ for them to not guarantee anything ( i am sure this isnt under warranty anymore ) and scratches the interior console. Is there a way to let the player go if it is stuck? is there an unexpensive way to take the header out if necessary rather than having to deal with the dealer? The player hadnt stuck on me for about 6 to 8 months if i used it very carefully and waited until i switched from one cd to the other instead of switching back and forth without giving the player the chance to head start on a cd and turning off the cd mode before turning off my car period. But i messed up that one time and it stuck to me again. I cant get it to work again, it's been 2 or 3 weeks now. It came back on its own again when first igniting the car, you would hear the CD player reseting within the dash console.

What should i so? it is terrible to drive an Acura and not have a cd player in working conditions. my email: dpeli1st@msn.com Thank you in advance.

I have the same problem with my 6disc changer in my 03 CL Type-S and am trying to avoid a trip to the dealer. What I've found that works is when it flashes the code push on the cd door flap with your finger or the end of a pen firmly for a second or two and the code actually goes away and it will go back to reading the CD's you put in. It sounds crazy but its actually works for me.

Anyone who got their car fixed under warranty get an estimate of the costs if it wasnt covered??

the OEM cd player doesnt like burned CD's

when mine does that i just give the console a good tap and it knocks the jammed cd loose. i figured out it was just a jam when mine was stuck like that till i hit a big bump on the road.

They probably just replace the unit. Dealer prices being what they are it might be better to try your luck on ebay or the blackmarket.
