There's two things I know that can cause your vtec not to work.

1.
ECU not sending the "vtec on" signal. This is troublesome to check. There's instructions on the TL board's FAQ on how you can install a little LED that goes on when the ECU sends the signal. But since that's a pain in the ass (compared to the next step), let's just assume that your ECU is working.

2. busted bypass actuator valve
TONS of info on this problem. Just do a search on "actuator". Or read the FAQ (look at the top of this page). There's a simple 1 minute test you can do to check on this.

Either way, if it's not working, let the dealer figure it out.

From what I know, the actuator is for the dual-stage intake which has nothing to do with VTEC.

I'm not sure on this one, could someone please explain what cause "VTEC" to not "engage" because from what I understand, VTEC is variable timing technology which cause the CAM timing at lower band to be different than the upper band. If VTEC is messed up, would the car run at all? Someone????

for Hondas/Acura's the ecu doesn't permit the fuel injection for VTEC when the engine is cold. You basically get a fuel cutoff at any previous region. So just warm up ur engine first. If that's not the case for you, see your dealer.

as a fellow CL-P owner, vtec kicks in at 45-5000 rpm.

MMm... I may be wrong.

I thought VTEC is the name of the technology that results in our cams having different two different lift profiles, a higher lift profile for high RPMs (more air) and a lower lift profile for lower RPMs (less air). The actuator bypass valve actually activates some solenoids (vtec solenoids) which result in the different lifts.

I'm assuming by "VTec not to work", oce01acura32cl means his cams don't get that higher lift past 4k rpm.

electronically, I know a thing or two but engine wise, I know as much as what described in the HELM manual.
