Excessive, Excessive, EXCESSIVE Road Noise From the Rear After 40 MPH
What the hell is causing this road noise on my 2003 CL Type-S? Since I bought the car with 88K miles and it now has 102K miles it has had the most ridiculous road noise compared to all my previous cars. It's coming from the rear, my buddy who does all my car work who works for Acura said my wheel bearings are fine. I thought it was a bad tire or bad tires all around, so I had them replaced with the stock Michelin Pilots. My previous Lexus IS300 and Lexus ES300 and even two Honda Preludes didn't have this kind of road noise.
I absolutely LOVE my CL-S in every other way, but this kind of road noise is driving me crazy! Is it just the CL?
The best way I can describe it is it sounds almost like the sunroof is tilted, that wind noise. But it's much louder, and it's coming from the rear. My friend has a 2002 TL Type-S and inside the cabin it's SILENT!
My car was rear ended about a month after I got it, could this have something to do with it?

WOW ME2!!!!!! i was just thinking about my damn road noise, i lowered it, and got it aligned, and i think thats when i started hearing it a whole lot moree... but i havent gotten my bearings checked... my old hatch had nasty road noise and i changed the bearings and the noise went away... so i hope its bearings... and not tires...

I'm about 95% positive that it's my wheel bearings. After talking to a friend of mine that works at Acura he said if it happens on the highway going straight, but not when you lean into a turn, it's probably a wheel bearing.
badeh- Next time you're on the highway you'll notice the road noise goes on when you're on a straight away, but when the road bends and your car leans to one side or the other, the road noise instantly goes away. If that happens, it's probably a wheel bearing. And it happens on my CL.

Same here after I lowered it, I hear all kinds of road noise and the compression noise from my rear tokiko illuminas but my car is mildly lowerd F 1.5" and R1.0", so there shouldn't be that big of a difference in road noise. I also got my alignment done, once it was lowered. I also had all my bearings checked by acura and all is good, so what could it be??
