Angry excessive BLEMISHES in nighthawk black paint?>?

anyone notice excessive pitting or clearcoat clemishes in their nighthawk black paint on Cl? I just bought this car in june and it was the better of two black CLs on the lot, both had lots of paint blemishes. they look like little circles that first start out white and then get burned thru to the metal over time. is this what you guys are describing when you say acura paint sux?

When i first got my 03 cls i had the same problem. I bought an anti-swirl remover made by Maguires and then put on a coat of wax. Also i would recommend washing your car by hand if you dont already

Yo i noticed that too. My paint had that same shit when it rained i guess thats where it came from. I dunno if its from the clear coat or whatever. But since i got my car repainted in Sept-Oct, i have not had those blemishes. My car is now sometimes blue sometimes black though .

That only helped a little. I used the regular cleaning polish, and the next wax and even tried claying, but my trunk couldnt get rid of it. Only of the roof of the car it worked..Its funny cause i thought i was the only one that had that problem.

I have ABP and i really noticed it on the side of the car on the door and above the rear wheel. Also helped when i dried my car i used the 'california water blade' rather than a towel

Well the kind of problems you are describing are not Acura's fault. Or bad paint. It's from hard water spots, dirt, or bird crap that was left to bake into the clearcoat resulting in the spots you see.

When we talk about bad Acura paint, we mean it's very thin & easily scratches or chips.

Only thing you can do is wet sand & buff the clearcoat.

swirl marks/ blemishes/ oxidation...you need a cutting compound polish, most likey need to invest in a PC. its next to impossible to remove the by them hand. check out the Wash & Wax section

haha yeah..why not start another law suit. i like the car...but hate the rattles (just had my sunroof "derattled" today by acura) tranny scares, and bad paint. dude it sux...i have metal showing thru on my hood, trunk, and roof. i always handwash, but i did just buy the car off lease this past june. god knows what the prev. owner did. waxed it twice since then with that Mothers' three step stuff....it made the good paint look nice, but just filled in the holes with white. anyway.....how could this not be under paint warrenty...i mean it seems allot of people have this prob. my black 1990 black honda accord didnt have these probs. it sux that this car is three years old and the paint burned thru to metal. did you guys paint right over the holes in paint or did you have to sand it down>fill>then sand>paint.?>?

I find that Acura's paints are one of the best, so im somewhat leaning towards the water spots idea. Do you happen to see these same, or somewhat similar, spots on your windows? Anyway that you can take a few pics?

Take a look at this thread . Similar?

Dear Sabbasmas,

Yes, like the other gentleman said... I used the Porter Cable 7424 with a fine polishing pad and Sonus SFX-1 to remove those blemishes. Go to www.autopia-carcare.com.

Blessings,

I have alot of sap spots from the previous owner, but i also have some area that the paint/clear coat is kind of spidering. I have hear that in Honda's pursuit of being more environmentally friendly, they changed their paint over the years. It has been a cleaner paint, but not as hardy. I guess im not too upset cause im learning its just a car and it sits in the FL sun all day. But I have seen much worse paint jobs, just keep it waxed and somewhat clean and it will help.

man, I'm about to get a NBP CL, but I am ready to repaint it Brandywine, or even the Red from the new Type S TL. Hope it doesn't have those issues. All I do know is that My SSM took a hell of a beating and barely showed any war scars.

silver is usually the best color at hiding any swirls or blemishes...

its not the paint, the paint is 2nd to none....its the thin clearcoat that blows, hence all the swirl marks in our cars.... and then leads to paint deterioration

quick detailer spray and microfiber towels are vital for immediate rescues from any of the shit mentioned.

yeh my car is covered in those swirly marks...so its just the clear then huh. good news cause NBP is BADASS - a little more blue would be nice but none the less a badass paint.
so to fix the clear i can use an abbresive wax + more clear?
damn ill just check the wash and wax section...
