Engine revving at idle by itself????

Engine revving at idle by itself????

OK, haven't driven the CL in a while but had to replace the bypass filter. So I did that, disconnected-reconnected the pos. on the battery hoping that would reset the computer. Fired 'er up and it revs by itself from 1k-2k, over and over again. Help a

Check the idle air control on the the tb, The same thing happened to me. I removed the tb and took out the two torx screws (six point!)that hold it in to find out it was seized, I was able to get it loose with some elbow grease and wd40. I haven't had any problems since. The car was sitting for about six months in the body shop without being started.

you're suppose to disconnect the NEGATIVE TERMINAL... did you have to enter your radio code?


When you reset the ECU the car will rev. at idle because the ECU is searching for idle... YOUR CAR IS FINE... the ECU is just retraining/calibrating itself.

You need to perform the idle-relearn procedure. Hold the RPMs around 3500 until the fans come on then let the car idle for 5 minutes or so and you should be good to go. If not we need to move to step 2.

and or the a peice of the by pass valve lodged somewhere...or maybe a vacuum hose disconnected
