Engine Rebuild Shops around Long Island/Queens?

This is probably in the wrong forum, but it may be useful for anyone looking to do a 3.5 stroker.

I have kind of come to the end of my resources, and so far I have 2 quotes...

$3600 - 3 weeks - R&I w/ Rebuild
$1200 - 1 week - R&I w/ Rebuild

So this is too far of a gap to make a def decision, anyone know any shops that have experience with honda/acura. I'm looking to do the 3.5 but I'm trying to find a price in between.

Just curious but why not go with the supercharger? I think the gain from the 3.5 swap alone isn't that much. You gain mostly torque if anything. I believe all you have to do is swap the crank and rods ....and might be able to use your type s pistons, don't know if it would take that much time and I think the $1200 sounds more realistic in my opinion.

Torque is good! and $1200 is dirt cheap. Actually, that's so cheap that I'd be worried... If you're doing the swap, you may as well buy new parts for everything and make it a new motor. Not worth doing that whole swap and having the block out and just doing 1/3 of the job.

$1200 for labor? That's what I thought he was referring too and not parts. The shop I use charges like $75 an hr, didn't know it would be 16 hours of labor to swap parts..

I'm getting a bottom end swap currently and didn't plan it being $1200 in labor to swap it but then again, maybe I'm wrong.

those quotes do not include parts except the 3600 includes a heat gasket.

yes, 1200 sounds too low thats why i'm a bit worried, but 3600 sounds abit high, i'm not sure.

my swap will include crank, rods, pistons, cams while using my CL-S block/head.

so, i'm still searching for shops.

Wow, cams? From the RL? Crazy. Can't wait for this one. Since you're changing all of that, you may want to look into also doing **ALL of the o-rings**, water pump, **ALL gaskets**, timing belt tensioner, and oil pickup. These aren't necessary to change out, but you may as well change all the little wear and tear stuff while it's apart so you can have virtually a new engine.

If you are gonna order parts, call Lance at www.oemacuraparts.com They were by far the cheapest out there. Plus they also give an internet discount which is where Lance comes in. 1-866-391-9922

thanks! new water pump is on my list, along with complete gasket kit for the whole engine. i was also thinking about having the timing belt tensioner replaced as well, but i wasn't sure. didn't really think about the oilpickup, but most general o-rings i would assume be replaced by the shop. that seems like a give in to me, but then again, maybe not at the $1200 shop.

i'm going for strictly n/a, no FI or n2o, i'm looking to maximize torque. i think i will be able to put down more torque than most of the basic supercharged setups ;]
