What tranny are you running on???

How many miles do you have and what tranny are you on now?

I had my front engine (passenger side under the ABS controller) replaced at 105k under warranty...

Then after they replaced my tranny at 112k (for free), they failed to tell me that my front hydraulic mount had exploded and spewed its guts out all over the engine....so, after I go back to another dealer at 125k thinking it's my tranny going out again at shifting, they tell me that the mount is bad...

When they pulled up the records and found that the dealer that replaced my tranny didn't inform me of this, they called the Acura rep who approved the replacement of it for free...

yes they could have and again ...both mounts? there are four ...front and rear side by the PS and side drivers side wheel...trust me if your front and rear mount is bad then the side mount by the PS pump certainly is....IMO the side mount is the reason the others fail...if you search you can find away to fill and repair the existing mounts

junk yards, ebay, acuraautomotiveparts.org or similar.

Highly recommend to fill the stockers with polyurethane as I did - INFO/PICS here. Also, scroll down (post #20) for before/after pics.

I just took mine to Acura the other day... thinking the same thing about the transmission... i had a new one put in probably not even 20,000 miles ago and now i have 2 mounts going bad as well.. front and upper right passenger... do they not replace these when they put the new transmission in?

i wouldnt blame this on acura quality control though...it's really just too much power for the mounts...factory power with a 40+ year old concervitive driver no problem...but for the person that mods the car and gets on it...time to upgrade

This is a solution to take your OEM motor/tranny mounts to the next level and it only cost $5 + your labor. The benefit of this design is additional strength despite it's flexibility, thanks to a polyurethane.

Keep in mind this method won't deliver the same results as solid polyurethane inserts or complete custom mounts, however it's definitely better than your stock units even if you have a brand new set.

The stock mounts have gaps which allow the center of the mount to move up and down excessively, so by using polyurethane you can fill those gaps to restore worn out mounts, reduce unwanted motor assembly movement and deliver more power to the ground.

Premixed polyurethane can be purchased at Menards or Home Depot for $5 a tube (I chose Menards due to available black color). This sealant designed for different purpose of course , however it works with metal and rubber, so that's all we need. In addition, it withstands any weather condition and high temperature. And 1 tube is enough to fill 2 tranny and 3 motor mounts (front, side, rear).

All engine/tranny mounts should be removed prior to use the polyurethane otherwise it defeats its purpose. This source is not a liquid (more like tooth paste) so no duct tape necessary to cover the other end, just use a cardboard underneath when you fill them up. Place all mounts outside and let them sit on the sun for 8 hours or so each day to harden the solution faster. You can start using mounts after 24-30 hours.

Note: If not possible a complete removal, you can try to lift the engine (jack, crane, etc.), fill each mount (total 5) and let it dry. Mine was done at the time of the block swap, so it was easy with engine removed.

Enjoy!

TypeR. are you saying that Acura still covers the tranny swap expenses despite having an engine with more than 100k miles?
