is a emanage system necessary?
#2
From the reading i've done you'll probably want it with the HBP. Your engine will need more fuel with the HBP and you can adjust it with that. But you could just get a fuel pressure regulator right? Also depends on what octane gas you have where you live. If you can't get 93 then you'll need it to stop detonation??
I'll let someone with s/c experience chime in...

its probably better when you safe-Tune it and get the most out of the hbp you can also just Unplug the IMRC without the e-manage for the time being and up the fuel pressure to 42psi ish if your running 93octane fuel.

No without the E-manage. Just your comptech ESM. when you tune it, IMRC is connected. Because IMRC valve opens up at 3500RPM and its a lean spot with hbp, with the e-manage tuned your compensating more fuel on that spot so your motor won't blow. remember our stock engine is already a high-compressed setup.

For what I am doing, probably. Ill tell you in three weeks when my car is done. The stock injectors have been run up to 12psi on a turbo, I think they were stock. 9.5psi on the blower that I know of and it worked. It’s not great though because injectors are supposed to be run at less than 70psi for peak efficiency and atomization of the fuel. You will never see a professionally built or OEM car running over 80psi on the injectors. Running injectors at 100+ psi with the stock blower pulley is pushing it. I don’t remember but I think Scalbert was at something like 130+ psi when he ran 9.5 psi and that is insane on a stock injector. If one of them froze up you would be in big trouble and wouldn’t have any time to do anything about it. I would say it is fine for up to 6psi but not ideal there either. Comptech used the 8:1 FPR to cut cost so you don't have to replace the fuel system like I did. The stockers do work and I have not heard of one injector failure. However, there are only a handful of superchargers and very, very few of those ran 9psi so who knows. I wanted larger injectors and they should have a much better spray pattern at 65psi max where I will be running them with the 1:1 FPR.

i will. i want to know eveything i might need or should get to maintain my engine and tranny with a s/c w/hbp installed. i already have a tranny cooler and im planning on getting a methanol injection kit next.

well from what i understand you should tune period esp with HBP or injectors.
you're adding a supercharger, it does come with EMS but that doesn't really do shit. you want more power do it right get a tune.

So my friend just picked up a emanage blue for $300 for his turbo celica project. Only to find out that he needs $125 of software that can only be downloaded from greddy's site to make it work. Not to mention everything that came with it and the box are in Japanese.
Is he wrong? Can the dyno shop do it for him without the $$$?
How does this apply to our CL's? Will we need to get extra software?
I wanted to get a tune for all my bolts-ons but now I'm thinking I should go with the aem-fic. I know I only have bolt ons but every other fuel manager gets overwritten by our ecu. Any advice would be appreciated...(jproy) Thanks.
threadjack/ sorry P.diddy but you might need these answers too.

You need to have the software for a laptop to be able to talk to the EM regardless of what car you are tuning. There is no special software for the CL. It looks like the EMB, EMU, and AEMFIC are the only units that will not be overwritten on the CL/TL. However, the EMU will not work on the 6MT cars because the EMU cannot talk with the different CKP's for some reason. There are two CKP's on the CLS 6mt and only one on almost every other car out there. The EMB will work on the CLS6 but you can only control fuel. This has been used successfully by several members but I have not used it. You cannot control timing on the TL or CL with either of the EM units. We are working right now to find out if the AEM FIC will allow us to control timing but we are working against the two CKP sensors at the moment. There is one CKP (sensor B) on the back side of the clutch bell housing that reads notches off the flywheel and there is the main CKP sensor behind the crank pulley that reads off the notches on the Timing belt pulley on the crank. We should know something soon.

The software is free. I forget where but there are several sites that you can download it for free including the latest updates. That shop probably doesn’t have much experience with the EM and more than likely doesn’t want to do it. Who knows There is a book in English included with the EM units, or yours is missing.

Thank you jproy for the advice. I have heard of the emu not working with the 6mt cars from some of your other posts. I read all your posts btw, thanks for consistently dropping knowledge. Ok so I understand the need of the software so that the emange talks to your laptop. There is no cl specific software, and whats needed is free. Ok... I will inform my friend of this and the english manual that should have been included.
Back to the CL. The crank position sensors are your major hurdle right now in getting the aem-fic working properly. I will certainly be waiting on your results before I make a purchase of my own.
I don't plan on boosting anytime soon, do I need to adjust timing on na mods? Is fuel management enough? Will the emb be worth it ($$$) to get some gains? Its a big step. I want to make sure I get the right engine management because you need to get the corresponding harness ($$$) as well. Its a big cost to find out its not going to function properly. Thanks again.

So I did some research and talked to my friend some more. In needing more software that is not included he meant the "startup cd and special cable". Sold on greddys site under emanage as the "emanage support tool" for $139. So if you can't hook up to your laptop you can't tune. I'm assuming a good tuner/dyno shop should have this already. If or when my friend buys the support tool I should be able to use it also I guess(if I get emb)
