EGR insufficient flow?

Any electrical gurus know how to fool the EGR into thinking it has flow? Resistors, jumper wires, etc?

You cant increase flow electrically, you can make the computer think the EGR is working and disconnect it with resistors, but for flow you have to either buy a new valve or clean the carbon building up the EGR passage...

i think he was clear that he wanted to dissconnect it

If he was that clear he would have said i want to disconnect it...EGR's are prone to getting clogged because of carbon buildup in the passage, so if he doesnt say disconnect I wont take it as disconnect.

what effects will this have on engine performance, gas mileage, etc?

My CEL just came on with p1491 (EGR insufficient lift), but has since gone off on it's own, and I wanted to knoow what kind of effect this will have on the general workings of the car.

Well the EGR valve takes exhaust gases and passes into the intake for better combustion and fuel efficiency. Without a EGR valve you will run cooler intake temps but you will have emissions trouble.

I should have been abit clearer, I want to fool the computer, egr is a source of boost lose so I'm gonna disconnect it. Don't care for all the Xmas lights on the dash, having vsa turn off automatically is cool though . Any tips? This thing can sense errors in lift and flow. I just need to trick it into thinking it's got flow.

Cylinder temps will be higher, more NO2 output. Just a tad bit more power since you prob. won't have so much inert exhaust gases entering the intake manifold, more oxygen.

I would think the higher cylinder temps would cancel out the gains from the higher concentration of oxygen. I've also noticed my gas mileage has been pretty shitty (20-21mpg) since the light came on. I used to cruise at 80MPH (2750-3000rpms)on the highway and got the same gas mileage, but got pulled over the other week, and have since gone 65-70(2250-2500rpms), and it appears so far that it hasn't done shit,. so I was thinking it might have to do with the EGR problem.

btw, it's nearly 0 degrees here, and once the car has warmed up on the highway the car is all kinds of powerful now at WOT, at least up till 70 mph where I stop giving it gas. lol

Damn, I was hoping someone knew how to fool the sensor.

fouling the sensor may be able to be done...but an easier way would be to unbolt the EGR but leave it connected to its harness ...fabricate something to cover the vacant spot left by the EGR and allow the egr to run in side the engine bay when the ECU thinks it should

I have a block off plate right now, the egr is still bolted in place though, no flow through it. I guess leave it off like you said and maybe route the pcv line through it to simulate flow?
