seafoam breaks down the crud inside the engine. then it would also break it down inside the cat, right? makes sense to me.

Here tis my solution, it pulls clean air thru eaither a breather filter or if you want it to be less noticable you can use a T fitting to pull air from the intake thru the breather port. It keeps the ECU happy by still leaning out the mixture, but instead of pulling dirty exhaust gases it pulls clean air. Several people have been running these for almost a year now with no ill effects.

I do make these by request.

Will this really pull air first like you say.
I'm sure you've done some testing.
Why would this not pull bad air still.
The setup seams like it might delute the bad air with some fresh air.

I'm wondering how a blank piece with just the filter on it would act.
I'm sure you've tryied it like that too.

That wouldn't work without throwing a code.

The ECU is looking for the EGR unit. There is a valve in it that flips when the ECU tells it and recirculates the air. With his plate, instead of pulling in the dirty air, its pulling the clean air in. Im not going into how he did his plate because its his design.

Is one side of the egr not opened or something, sealed by the spacer ?
Is the egr basically just hanging around to just be a 2lbs sensor ?

blocked with the plate but with a by pass that still lets it see fresh air on the otherside of the plate.
I thought he explained this earlier in the thread above

After cleaning the upper intake manifold/plenum I would really like to do an EGR Block/bypass. What are the current options and how much do they cost?

I think a bypass would be a better choice than a block plate with no EGR. What is the consensus on these options? Which is better? What are approximate costs?

First option is the p2r block off plate for $20 or make your own. This will throw a code and you will always have a check engine light. You will need to swap egr back to pass emissions.

Paul's spacer was $120 I believe. No code or engine light on. Will pass emissions. With this setup you have option of just attaching a breather filter or you can use a t fitting and hose to connect to the intake.

$120 for something that keeps me from having to clean my upper intake plenum? I'd pay that for sure, how do I get in contact with Paul and order one of these?

Another option I was considering was blocking it off with a gasket but drilling a breather hole into the EGR on the intake side of the EGR. That way the EGR still opens and closes when it needs to (I think).
