not noticeable. when u go wot the erg closes so u get cold fresh air. but when im racing im not always wot, so id like fresh/cooler air at all times. or u can contact nva and get the breather filter like civic has on his engine

So this would actually be beter for the car when not fully on the throttle.
I would have to reinstall the egr when it come time for a inspection right ?

I just got new egr gasket and plan on atleast cleaning it out today.
My intake was totally cruded when I did the porting and I never cleaned the egr.
I clogged egr will have a noticable performance loss on part throttle or full throttle ?

correct. if u have oil sitting inside the manifold its bc of the valve cover breather hoses that are connected to the intake and manifold

I did the breather on the front valve cover is there anything else I could do to keep the intake clean.

The EGR pulls in clean air from the intake, not nasty air from the exhaust = no CEL

And as for the avatar, deal with it

hey installed a spacer below the egr with a breather on it. so it sucks in clean air from the outside. or something like that.

I just removed my egr to inspect and clean.
Do I seperate the botom block of it to clean it.
Will brake cleaner f anything up ?

Is their any way of telling it's not working properly with it off the car?
It does have build up.
Also I got 2 gaskets that the part store had for it.
One has 2 little holes ? and one don't,like mine now.
What the differnce?

I don't think theirs a way to test it off the car. When u clean the port out make sure non of the carbon build up gets stuck down inside the port. Try blowing air through the manifold egr port to push all the gunk out

well I turned it from the allen screw on the botom and it was rough to turn.
I removed the botom block screws and pulled as far as it would go while keeping the unit together and it made a pop,and then poped back together .
Now turning the screw,it turns free.

Tom,if I pull the manifold top plate and sqwirt brake cleaner down the egr port then air, it will come out where the egr valve is mounted, right ?

Now that the egr valve is off it looks like it would look hot with the egr block off plate and save a couple lbs with out it.

Use carb cleaner to clean it

I cleaned the egr valve, and the whole port again.
The car idles way beter from a cold start up and the slight shuttering on part throttle is smoother now.
Even with the engine temp up it seams to pull harder.
Maybe it's my imagination but,I think it helped alot.

u don't have to post this in every thread, he just said his car runs better now, I don't think he really needs a seafoam

Wouldnt hurt. I did seafoam twice after I cleaned out my EGR passages from the intake mani. I could tell there was a difference cause the exhaust note was louder afterwards.

I'm too sceptical on the sea foam.
Many good results but,I've heard alot of cel too.
And theres no need to take a chance with a cel.

I used to love Seafoam running through the intake until someone told me something that makes a shit load of sense.

All that garbage in your intake gets washed away by the SeaFoam, but where does it go? Out the exhaust. Which means it has to go through the cat.

Id much rather use good fuel and quality oil to keep it clean rather then relying on SeaFoam to do it for me and possibly clog the cat.

I do plan on throwing some injector cleaner in the tank .
If that makes a differnce, then I will be upgrading the all pieces of the fuel system next.

I get CEL everytime I did seafoam and they are engine misfire codes. They clear on the drive back home.

If you've been using high quality gas and changing/cleaning out the filter on a regular basis then there shouldnt be too much stuff in the chamber.

plus the price of a cat is better then the price of an engine rebuild.

Yea, but as I said if you continue to use high quality fuel you wont have to worry about either.

yea i seafoamed my car and i got a cel (misfire code) and i pulled the fuse and then all was well after.. no biggie.

barely anything came out though. I did some other cars that shat out white clouds for the ENTIRE BLOCK i swear lol and it helped.

oh yea that was a 97 prelude with 275000ish kms or something like that
