ECU question...

Hey guys,

I have a question regarding the ECU on a 2001 CL-S. I have been told that there are methods available to upgrade performance by reprogramming or reflashing the ECU. The most common method I have heard is to send in the ECU and have it reprogrammed (usually by Jet Performance for about $300.00). I would appreciate any info., comments, or experiences you may have regarding ECU upgrades and subsequent performance improvements. Are there other methods to enhance ECUs or engine management? Also, any opinions on pulley upgrades (AEM or UR models)? THANKS for all of the help on this forum...

You can't really reflash the ECU or at least I don't know if anyone has. For N/A applications, the Unichip will work. For F/I, use e-manage. Do not do the Jet Chip thing.

If you are getting pulleys, get the UR pulleys.

Thanks for the info, phipark. Re: UR pulleys, would you recommend installing all of the pulleys, including cam. I have heard mixed reviews, but a local tuner technician said that replacing the cam pulley can cause some problems with the OE setup. He said the accessory pulleys would be fine to upgrade. He also said the ECU reprogram from Jet is not recommended. So, I am looking for additional opinions and experiences from owners with 1st hand experience with ECUs and pulleys. THANKS...
