Ecu capabilities

As we know the ecus is our car is non tunable. I have a 2001 clp and I was wondering if I did I type s cam swap how would the ecu react. I’ve heard on this forum that the ecu self adjusts but just how far will that take me. Would I be able to do a cam swap and still retain drivability as it would on a normal type s car. If it does ajust and everything worked well (car starts and drives) how much of a performance increase am I looking at. From what I hear the lift of the type s cam if larger as well as duration, will this douse an issue with piston to valve ratio? Thanks guys looking forward to hearing from y’all!

You'll get some extra HP. No real downside.
