E-Brake light on.... low brake fluid??

my emergency brake light briefly goes off and on at random times .. especially from a standstill... it usually only stays on for a few seconds....

i heard this may be due to low brake fluid??? can anyone confirm..

or is there something wrong /w my e-brake?

if fluid level is good : replace level sensor (to test it, just unplug 1 wire from the grey cap)

You might want to check your brake pads. More than likely, your pads are worn and the brake fluid is compensating because its needs more to push those caliper pistons.

Have you checked to see if one of the brake light bulb is burned out?

Search is your friend. It's either low brake fluid (I'd try this first) or a bad float switch (located in the cap).

I have the same porblem..started off with the lights going on and off intermittently...i checked the fluid levels, and it looked like it had enough..i still put in some more so that the level now is exactly between min and max...

however, NOW, the light is ON all the time!! Will try the sensor to see if that is the problem...

Mine flashed on too for a week or so, but i would just move the handle around a bit and it would go away. My guess it was just the sensor at the base of the handle mechanism being a little faulty.

I had the same thing happen last year...the brake light would come on at times....I checked the res and filled it to the max....the light went out....but a few weeks later I discovered the brake pads were just about gone. So I think that the car was telling me...HEY..I need brakes. I think there is something to the fact that when the brake pads are too far gone, the fluid tries to compensate...and the light goes on!

It is likely it is your pads or your rotors are shot. I know cause I need to get new brakes, and the light is comin on more and more now, damn!!!

NO. Trust me, it's a bad float switch...a very common problem in the 2nd gen CL/TL's. It has nothing to do with worn pads/warped rotors.

Just mentioning the fact that it could be the brakes or rotors cause that is a reason the light might come on! Anyway its always good to inspect every little aspect of the car. I know thats why my brake light comes on ocassionaly, because i know i need new braking system otherwise it is just a minor problem.

hope that helped.. but the new brakes in the back and rebleedin the brakes helped.

So when you bled your brakes you probably topped your brake fluid off as well, correct? That's most likely why your brake light reset, because you were either low on fluid or topping it off readjusted the float inside the cap .
