Dumb service guy

I went to the dealer the other day to have them look at my d5 light. it was blinking so i wanted to find out what it was. it ended up being the auto trans temp senor so i said ok how much. they said about $150 for labor i aid why so much the other dealership told me $190 including th sensor that was $100. Then he told me because sometimes the sensor breaks off in the tranny and they have to fich out all the parts. I just laughed and was like that is what you tell a customer we might break parts off in your park and charge you to fix it. One of the guys from my paintball team works for them i tolf him and he said that is great customer service and laughed. i am having one of my friends that is a tech for honda do it for $50 and the part through him is $42 instead of $100. Anyone ever been told that before?

I do this all the time when I sell repair work on older cars (well, not sell it but tell the adviser). Parts breaking is not always the techs fault. As stuff gets old it gets brittle and certain parts are more likely to break than others and techs know this. Thats why they include extra time to cover themselves incase something does break.

Yeah, maybe, but I'm sure if it doesn't break, he'll still be charged the potential fee. They will not come around and say, "well, here's your $ back, it didn't break!"...
