New Prestone Antifreeze

Does any one know if it's o.k. to use the new formula 50/50 prediluted Prestone antifreeze. They claim it can be used in all makes and all models.

i'm using the prestone 50/50 prediluted and my car has never overheated. i'm sure it will now.

but antifreeze is antifreeze imo, it's not rocket science.

That's what I thought too, but I used different stuff in my Taurus years back and blew a head gasket. Not sure if it's related, but I'm not taking the chance.

Probably wont over heat for some time but its what it does to the inside of your motor.

For the price id just stick with what honda designed for their engines.

I'm curious what exactly you guys are afraid might happen. I have a hard time believing that there would be enough variation in the formulations of anti-freezes as to cause any significant problems, like gasket erosion. As long as it's not boiling or freezing, I'm at a loss as to what potential damage might come of it.

FWIW, that premixed stuff is considered to be pretty quality in the motorcycle world and motorcycle engines spend most of their lives operating near the bounds of their operating parameters.

Agree. I use it as well. Use it in all my cars. Plus a bottle of water wetter.

that's hilarious... honda specially engineered and designed coolant, huh. it's just coolant, theres no secret to it. how could one be worse/better than the other?

I ended up getting the Honda antifreeze since I had to go to the Dealer anyways to get transmission fluid. I forgot what a real pain in the ass it is accessing the block drain plug.
