downshift in 6 speed

this may be a stupid question but what gear do you guys normally downshift to when going 55-65 and you would like to go faster/pass? i usually put it in fourth and the rpms are before vtec engages, but occasionally i put it in 3rd where vtec is already engaged. does it hurt to put it into 3rd as opposed to 4th?

i drop it in 3rd at that speed, but not if i'm just casually passing someone. i'll just take my time in 5th maybe 4th.

If I'm on 5th gear going 55-65 then I would downshift to 4th.

I'm in 5th at that speed. So If a really want to pass in a hurry I down to 3rd. If I want to pass normally I down to 4th.
There's no right or wrong. Depends on your driving conditions & driving style. We are all different.

3rd is good up to around 80, but I generally just use 4th to pass...

Yeah, it is a bit much... that's why I usually just grab 4th from 6th...

Doesn't matter whether 3rd or 4th, really depends on the urgency of the pass. Just make sure you rev match before letting out the clutch.

i agree. depends on the urgency of the pass. you can really just stay in 5th and pass. don't get me wrong, it's more fun to pass in 3rd

he just means that when you downshift into 3rd, your rpm's will be pretty high, so get your rpms up as you let the clutch out.(give it gas).
