Donor CL Tail Light Needed
If any of you check out the 2G TL side you may have seen this:

DeathMetal is in the prototype stages of building LED tail lights for the 2G TL. I brought up the CL and hes willing to take a look at it, he just needs a donor light. Unfortunately, I dont have one. It doesnt matter what side, nor does he need both. Doesnt matter what year either, the only difference is the turn signal diffuser (red vs clear).
If you are willing to donate to this and help get the ball rolling, it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help on this, all. I'm working on the TL design right now, but there's no reason I can work on both designs concurrently. The turn signal design will be a bit different, but I've good reason to believe the brake/running portion of the design will be the same as the TL, which will put us ahead of the game.
No sales taking place here. If we get past the prototype phase, Im sure DeathMetal will go through the proper channels to sell them.

Looking forward to seeing the outcome of this. Been wanting LED taillights for a long time. I knew someone that put LED boards in theirs and it didn't turn out too well. It was too dim and eventually LEDs started to go out quite soon.
I am going to try one type of LED and continue to move through a few different types until the best performer is selected. All legs will be slightly underpowered. 1/2W resistors will be used; all power is regulated at 12V to prohibit thermal overload.
Reliability shouldn't be an issue here. Over-engineered? Probably. Reliable? As best as this guy can dole out.

What sort of cooling are you going for? And the member that had LED lights was Noah. I forget his screen name but it was nf...... and a whole lot of random stuff. His build thread is "CL and the city" or something like that.

Also I thought you already had made some led conversions before but it does not sound like you have.

This is based upon what? Your extensive background research? I implore you to take a trip over to my build thread, or the multiple DIYs I have in the garage, or the LED retrofits I did on Maxima tails using PCB.
To close this point, I find your original "offer" to be insulting and I did bother responding initially due to my inability to discern sarcasm from what I'll only claim to be illusions of grandeur. I couldn't possibly think that someone would REALLY think that they would recieve a final product that would sell for $xxx AND get paid to ship the item for $70 worth of tails.

where are you located? after your testing, do you sell the product (ie internals) or do you do all the modifications yourself (service)?
also, i would like something specialized in terms of what led arrangements i want. would you do that? (as an example, extra IR leds with reverse)
also, what about the CHMSL? are you going to do anything for that? i would be willing to ship one out as well.

The CHMSL looks like a good candidate to swap the LED cluster from a Camry. Thats just eyeballing it though, I havent looked into it further (currently, I have a spoiler with LED).

All components have been ordered and are due to arrive next week. If all goes well we should have a fully functional set by Thanksgiving weekend. This also assumes our man Morgan is the first recipient!
