Does VSA Really Work?

NO I don't think it works at all since it's just a gimmick. All acura engineers are incompetent.

Anyway it will save you up to the point your breaks can hold your car down. The system can work better than your input because it can controll every brake individualy. If you are going to fast for tires to retain grip nuttin can save your ass.
The VSA does what it is supposed to do...keep you on the road when you are driving sensibly in insensible conditions.
YES, VSA works cause' I tested on 710 off ramp last nite @60mph (post speed limit 20) and passengers in my ride shitnin' pricks while my car swering all over the road, but VSA took over and corrected the over steer.

In the snow and in the rain YES! last winter i could of sworn my car was a 4X4. did great in the snow. i would floor the gas just to see how it is on snow/ice and vsa correctly gave enough gas to pull me through.
Say, NOVAwhiteTypeS,
Have there been any "meets" for us MD/VA/DC CL afficionados? How do we find out about future ones? Do you post it here or have an e-MAIL list or what?
I've never been to one, but IMO, once this freakin' summer is over, the early autumn would be realllly a nice time to hold one.

Yes to a certain point. I agree that it does help when the tires do lose grip but there is only a limit to what the VSA can do. Careful driving and learning how to handle your car in a bad situation is the overruling factor.
Technoid, We just had a meet last week, we are probably gonna have one in sept sometime, do a search in the forum for "burke meet" then you can see the pictures that we took from the last meet.
It sure as hell does work. I had an opportunity to find out about two months back. I was cruseing down the freeway at about 75mph when I started to change lanes to my right. When I was about 2/3 of the way into the lane, some clown in a MB decided that he wanted that lane instead. I had to swerve hard back to my left to avoid being sideswiped. When I did, the rear end started to come around to the left. Not good, there was a concrete retaining wall on that side. I steared hard again to my right to try and avoid hitting the wall. The rear end started to come around to the right this time. In both instances the VSA light was blinking like crazy. The car just kind of slowed down and went perfactly straight. I know I did not do it. I never touched the breaks. It does work. However, it will not change the "Laws of Physics" or cure "The Dumb Ass".

Let's clear this up a bit for some people. The VSA is a combination of the Traction control and yaw control on the CL-S. They both use the ABS and yaw sensors to determine traction and maintain control. From my experience, the VSA is great for normal driving...it allows you to take corners without losing it, however, it is a bit aggressive...so, almost anything over 30mph will create a squeal, that is due to the VSA using the ABS to brake whichever tire wants to kick out.
Basically, it helps you to keep the proper line in cornering. A driver who knows the car might prefer a bit of tail kick...
BTW,FYI....a more driver oriented yaw control was used in F1 racing...but banned...because it made up too many mistakes for the drivers.

Ok thanks for all the answers. hers another one, are you able to turn off the VSA when driving. I noticed in the interior pics that it has a button that says VSA , does that mean that you can turn it on and off when you want?
sorry I'm not bashing anyone. please people read your owners manuals. sometimes I post a question that has already been asked. what am I supposed to browse every question before I post one of my own. But come on, if it's in the owners manual there is no excuse

Yes this last one was a pretty big one over 30+ cars. I'll let you know before hand or just keep checking the fourm. Best way is to communicate via aim w/ me. or other va/md/dc folks.
