You will usually see them in brand new cars targeted to older people (MB E series, Infiniti M45, Lexus LS430, etc).
I guess some people do not know/ want to digitalize their tapes

a friends mom wants to be able to listen to books on tape in her car, thats why I was asking. she wants a cls I guess.
the library has hundreds of books on tape, not many books on cd.
I told her about this site...she said "what? you mean there are thousands of people who just sit around and talk about their acuras? why the hell would they want to do that?"

When I got my first CD player, a Sony, for about $800 back in the 80's, my friends told me I was nuts, the technology would never take off. You know what happened.
Then I got my first and still my only DVD player in 1997. Same story, it will never fly. You know what happened.
Then we saw ads on tv where you could "get this program for only $XX.XX on VHS.
Then it became "on VHS or DVD.
Now, there are some that are ONLY available on DVD. VHS has been bypassed. Old technology.
It is only a matter of time.
When you consider the cost of the entire car, the tape player amounts to peanuts. Still, I resented paying for it. I havent had a cassette tape for 20 years.

What pisses me off is that DVD is already old technology. Every type of media should be solid state, no spinning discs. Everything should be on memory cards. I think that all the companies just put so much money into dvd systems and selling the dvd's themselves, that the no one will switch over to something new for a long time.
I HATE dvd's. I have had so many movies skip and scratch and just stop working....drives me NUTS. Same with CD's. You should be able to buy just a sd card with the music on it, screw the discs.
