i guess i've always believed the 'crap at the bottom of the tank' theory.
i wonder though, i live in a very humid area (miami, fl), would that humidity/condensation theory would apply more to me??? nah...i dont care...it's all bs anyways

If you wanna screw your car up, fill up every couple of miles... I know some cars will think that your fuel level indicator is broken and turn on your check engine light. I personally fill up after the idiot light has been on for 10-15 miles.

They use inline filters so no "dirt" is gonna get in your tank.

I fill up when the light comes on, and try to keep the tank above 1/2 when the temp stays below freezing.
With respect to cooling the fuel pump theory -- isn't the fuel pump in line with the tank? Therefore you would need to be bone dry empty before you get to the point where there is not enough fuel to cool the pump.
