well, with a CAI you get 'some what' cooler air going inside the hot motor. basically, it cools the engine better than a stock intake would. an yes... there are a couple of hp gains.

The guys at the ford dealer told my friend it would void the warranty on his '07 GT.

AEM, CT or P2R take your pick. P2R 4" would be a good choice keep in mind you will need to get the TB spacer and can be bought as a package being CAI TB spacer and thermal gaskets.

Dealers, especially the service managers love to tell that crap. The only way they can avoid honoring the warranty is if they can prove that the modification (CAI) actually caused the prob being fixed.

Unless his problem is an intake manifold full of bugs, he should be covered

That's what I told him, and if worst came to worse he could re-install the stock intake and reset the ECU.

I'd go with the P2R since you don't already have one. Other than that, Injen or Comptech. You will see ~7-10 hp and def. increase in MPG. In no way voids the warranty unless you hydrolock your engine.

I would not go with the P2R. Wait till more people have it to really test it. It's not even in mass production yet. It's a rather loud & unattractive intake compared to the others as well.

The dealer is full of it...

Google magnuson-moss warranty act for more info... but Jabodacious summarizes the law pretty much...

Yup. Your mirror falling off is due to the aftermarket cold air intake that you installed... There is a special laser sensor that notices certain parts being removed or replaced thus making things fall off the car...

Just to clarify here ... intake air does not "cool the engine". The colder intake air is denser, and as such, enables more fuel to be burnt within the right stoichiometric ratio.

We have water cooled engines, not air cooled. And even then ...

I respect your experienced opinion and advice, but I would like to point out that the P2R intake is not loud at all during regular driving. It is only loud when the car is cold & idling high and at WOT. During regular driving (even at 70-75 mph) it is at the same level as when I had the Icebox in, which from my understanding would be quieter than a traditional style CAI. If anyone would like I could record the in cabin sound.

I think fuzzy meant aesthetically "loud".
