Does the exhaust upgrade make a difference?

I really want to personalize the sound of the car and i think Comptech is the way to go.

my question is, are there a noticeable power increase or is it like .. barely anything.

Comptech states 6-8 whp... I'm asking if any of you noticed that?

I want to get the last few HP out of my car, so when i hit the track next year it's GOOD results.

and should I do the XLR8 cat also or what.?

shoot me ur advice... i got a few months to ponder this.

I think I may buy the exhaust new, since I don't like scratches when it comes to CHROME exhaust.

unless anyone wants to sell me their MINT set?

The comptech axelbacks change the sound of the CL's and sound nice. I didn't notice much of a power difference but im sure it's there

exhaust is the biggest mod in my mind.. it can ruin the car or make it the shit.

and i don't want it to be loud, and i already love comptech cause of those headers. the quality is hands down top notch.

I just want it to be personalized.. plus they're chromed up so it'll look very nice, and plus u get a lil power out of it.. That's 3 positives. looks, sound, and hp

I'm gonna see if my buddy can hook me up so i don't have to go through shipping and customs and horseshit like that.

Hopefully I can get it for 600.and.. 700 is as much as I'd pay for 2 frigging cans

I got my CTs for $250.

I noticed a difference right away. I feel more torque aroun 3k rpm. This engine loves to breath.

Dont pay more than 600 new. They have them at excelerateperformance or autocarparts. If used pay alot less. Excelerate has free shipping atm till sunday.

i live in canada so shipping is NEVER free, and duties is up the ass.

I got friend who's a comptech dealer so I'll see if he can get his hands on some for me so I can just pick them up. i just texted him so he's gonna hunt them down for me :-) and install them... since one of my cans is seized up really bad... need to torch them bolts off and new gasket.

excelerate is like 600USD plus shi[[ing, taxes and duties to canada... that'd be 800-900 easily then. So that's too expensive by a mile

They stopped making the B-Pipe to make a cat back after Comptech switched over to CT Engineering. If you want to make the catback now, you have to remove your mid muffler or buy custom piping. Don't know if he would really want to do all of that if he doesn't want it to be louder... just my

ding ding... u are correct^^^

I want it to be louder... but not loud. I like having a civil car and not a BACON attractor.

I want the CT axlebacks so i don't have to think... fuck i don't even have exhaust on my car.

i have them with the Comptech B-pipe and it does sound great, but i don't think i noticed any increase in hp. it just looks and sound better.

i think the b-pipe or a custom pipe is a must with it though. if i had to do it over again, i'd still get the CT's

even with the b-pipe, it won't be "loud". it just adds to the tone

i will start with just the cans and see how i like it.

but i've have some bad experiences with exhaust shops so I like to do bolt ons only, that way they cannot screw it up

well yea i already love! comptech due to my headers. so naturally I want more comptech shit!

I'd do the intake but I prefer the chrome look of the injen

I will add the CTs on and see how I like it. If I want louder I will shoot for the XLR8 cat.... but I reallllllly don't like the idea of extending the o2 wires. More potential problems it leaves.

But yes comptech for sure ;-) and i'll have to go from there.

I heart my comptech axelbacks too! very quiet on the freeway and steady cruising around town. 2-4k is where the deep tone is and it sounds absolutely perfect, nice and low.

I already am right with the 01 mustang gt as of now. And I'm auto and they are standard.

I raced my buddy's 01 bullitt and he had to be in 3rd to pas me.

Given we had horrible starts d to slick roads, but still even in gear, he was gaining like 1-2mph on me.

Me and him were both VERY surprised. very

I just want this exhaust for the icing on the cake. and MAYBE a high flow cat if i am looking for a tad bit more noise and flow :-)

haha its cool man. It took my 2.5 years to get mine. They werent high priority cause the type s exhaust is already free flowing so the axelbacks are mostly for sound/looks. So i didnt really feel justified on spending the money till the right price came along.

yea actually I've been thinking I think I'm gonna wait for a loac set to come along so the price is reasonable.

i'm gonna start saving for a rainy day.... and my new summer rubber.

I hate my traction issues in 1st and 2nd with my tires i've used so far, that's why i'm going with the good shyt

Its the pipe that goes from the cat to the mufflers. It deletes the mid muffler and IIRC is 2.5" instead of the stock 2.25".

if it's not a bolt on then I'm not interested since I cannot do it myself.

So XLR8 cal and CT cans it'll be... next year...

yea I was thinking of S/C but I'm gonna wait till I get a real speed car so i can track the car (beat it up like it owes me MONEY).

my car already has traction issues in 1st and 2nd depending on conditions/tires/turns.

I hate wheelspin so i'm shooting for a different ride when it comes to ALL OUT speed.

GOTTA get myself a 2 seater, rwd, turboed something LOL

im quite fine with traction. i should see another 15whp or so with the high flow cat and b-pipe. it would be probably be about half that with N/A.

hmmm so this means, the XLR8 cat and CT cans would net about 10hp then..

i'll have to keep my eyes open for a good local deal then.

I am addicted to mods.

Honestly, if there is I don't know if I feel it or not. I didn't feel anything when I put the CT mufflers on, & I also didn't feel anything when I put the XRL8 cat on.
However with all my mods my car MOVES.

Also the addition of the XLR8 cat increased the sound & changed the tone a bit. I wasn't expecting that. It's certainly louder at all speeds/rpm's now.

It sounds great, but it's too loud for me & nothing I can really do about it now unless I spend more $, I'll just live with it.

the cl exhaust is already pretty high flow, you maybe might get 1-3 HP from a cat back system.

I bought the Tanabe system because I like the way the tips look and how it sounds, I think personally it sounds better than the comptech system maybe because its a true jdm exhaust system.

Reminds me of the HKS hi Power system, but deeper.
