Does anyone have a short ram intake on the CL-S??

I am in the market for an intake and I have alway preferred short ram intakes on my cars because they're easier to clean and they still sound really good. I just haven't seen hardly anyone with anything other than CAI's on there rides?

I don't think they ever made one for the CL-S. For the most part, everyone on the board's running icebox, AEM, Injen, or .... Xephyr

here check mine out, its really a mixture, it sux you live so far because i could have made you one too. and so far its giving me more power then a cold air intake or the comptech box or at least it feels like it i have not gotten it to a dyno because the local dyno is broke maybe sometime i will dyno it. http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...ghlight=intake

That's because CAI's make more power!

Underhood temps for our cars range from 120 (freeway) to 135 or so redlight to redlight. How do I know this? I measured it myself. You don't really want to pull in that hot air, get a CAI and you'll get ambient air all the time. Every ten degrees cooler the air is you'll make 1% more power, that's free horsepower.

With the Comptech Icebox I feel like the engine is straved on the top end. So I took of the top of the box to make it a shortram. It feels much better in the top end but you will feel the loss in low end torque. It sound much nicer as short ram.

CIA vs. short ram is really what you want low end torque or top end power.

Weapon R makes (made) short rams for the CL-S. I had 1, untill some fawker stole it. It made a really loud humming sound at idle. I guess someone in my apt. complex thought it was too loud! BASTARDS

Hot under hood air can make our cars ECU lower the timing to prevent valve knock. Which means a small percentage power loss through the rpm range. CAI, hands down is the best all around. You can have a loud car but doens't mean you're making more power. COMPTECH= Professionally tuned performance

Impossible for you to know you're making more power than the AEM or the Comptech pieces.

You'll loose tons of power by removing the lid on the IceBox. That basically makes it a HOT AIR intake.

Short-ram intake = lots of noise... little power.

It won't make a difference of 10+/- hp or torque and you can't feel a difference less than that. Anything you're feeling is pure placebo.

It just isn't possible sorry. You aren't going to gain 10whp over an AEM or the Comptech Icebox. I'd speculate that you'll make about the same, but not more.

And without a baseline dyno done on the same day the gains wouldn't be vaild anyways.

I had that problem too. I ended up prying it out and then replacing it with a self-tapping screw.

Anyone who thinks a short ram intake makes more power than a cold air intake is fooling themselves. A more agressive sound helps you get fooled.

Long time lurker, first time poster: got my CL-S6 about two months ago. I live in the pacific northwest and because it rains almost constantly in the winter I am scared of getting a CAI but I would like to help my car breath a little better. I am also thinking of installing headers, just waiting to save enough money for that. My question about getting a CAI is that I wonder if the bypass valve for the AEM works well enough to keep me from making a straw for puddles for my motor. I can't afford to ruin my engine just for a little added power and or sound. I, myself, would def consider getting a short ram just because I don't have to worry about water in the intake. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Get the Comptech Icebox. Unless you're driving through 30"+ of water it's impossible to hyrdolock.
