Do Not Buy New Navi Dvd:

Whatever you do, dont buy the new DVD version. the 2.11b disc is such a waste of my money!

It definitely has a wider range of POIs, but it keeps the SAME OLD POS MAPS in my area! OMG, what a joke for $185! The voice is the same fluid sauve female voice for the 04 MDX w/NAVI.

I was looking forward to the canadian border coverages...such as vancouver, etc...but it's not even there while the TSX/TL/MDX has it! And they don't even need an upgrade!

This is just retarded because I tried to map out home depot and it still sent me to the one that is 1533 miles away! and the categories are so confusing!!!! They are more detailed split down into sub sections.

Overall, if you really think paying $185 for it is justifiable..then you are rich...I think it should be about $99 instead. It is a large updates in terms of "unverifiable" map data...which is retarded too...but what really bugs me is the exclusion of canadian border cities. That's just a shame. Oh, forgot to mention that it's the SAME DAMN MAP AS MY OLD 01clnavi. There's not a big difference which is a huge letdown.

I think I'm going to go aftermarket from now on whenver I choose a navigation system. At least I know there is a good upgrade path instead of this $185 ripoff.

Come to think of it, I would rather pay $99 than $185, too.

The new DVD can't be copied.
It's a dual layer version with nearly 7-GIG of data.
Consumer burners can only do 4.7 GIG.
They don't sell dual layer burners yet.

of course it can be copied... BUT its just going to take a couple years until theres a burner that can burn 7+gigs onto a DVD

Well, I'll admit I was a little pissed at the price too, but my area has gone from like TEN roads mapped to like SEVERAL HUNDRED.
And I’m not exaggerating.

I was under the impression that once u install the new disk, then the old once cannot be used because the database or some shit gets confused?

i dont understand it myself. at the navi purchase website the FAQ page explains that there is a 30-day return policy. and under the section where it answers the question, "can i use the old navi disc" the response is a typo. but im still not sure WHY you would not be able to use the old navi disc??? i mean its only data...

When you install the new disc, it not only plays the new disc's date but it also installs a firmware upgrade to the Navi hardware itself.

I'm pretty sure that version of new firmware will not read/play the old disc.

So if you don't like the new disc and you return it, you can't go back to using your old disc (unless you visit the dealership for advice)?

Acura should have a Trial-version available on their website.

Something has to soften the shock of buying a disc for $185+ (mixed reviews or not).

I'll check for you tomorrow.
I'm pretty sure there are. Especially if Hellertown is fully mapped.

Actually, Jesus was born in Bethlehem. He grew up in Nazareth.

I did a quick “tour” of Nazareth this morning via the NAV joystick and it appears to be FULLY MAPPED.

I can’t vouch for every little subdivision & new development, but there’s definitely many roads shown including the smaller roads back by Jacobsburg Park and Gracedale.

Got the Navi DVD on Monday. Not sure if its worth the $185+ but either way i'm keeping it.

Did anyone else notice that the startup screen with the title and earth on it is updated? Is it just me or was it that colorful on the previous version? Looks more like the new Accords and TL's startup screen now. Maybe its the same but i just can't remember.

Also another question whats all those little red boxes with the flag sticking out of the top? I see them all over that map now. When i passed a local school they were directly at that spot. Local town buildings or something?

If anyone really hates theirs and wants to sell it to me, drop me a PM. I won't pay $185 but you could recorp some of the cash...and yes, I am assuming your dealer can set you back up on the old version gratis due to your dissatisfaction with the new version.
