The DMV & Custom plates....

The DMV finally got the title from the dealership, so I went to pay the tax, title, license and order my "signature plates"... 6-8 weeks to get in the new plates "TYPS FTW" but the plates they gave me in the mean time mock me... "RSX 32" WTF?!?!

Very strange coincidence lol. But kinda cool if you drove a swapped RSX.

I just got an email from the DMV about "TYPS FTW":

Thank you for your online submission for the plate TYPS FTW

Unfortunately the Department of Motor Vehicles is unable to process your request
ecause others may view your selection as objectionable or offensive.

Please click here to submit another message choice

I called to verify why and they said that the OTHER meaning for FTW is offensive and is "black listed" from being able to be put on a license plate!!! While there's a trailbrazer running around with "RU LEGAL" on the plates!!!

They approved that!
A cadillac is running around with 18 YET as well.... but again, FTW is offensive...

Wait wait, they don't want you to do it because it's offensive? Sounds like they're trying to play nanny. What's next, if I have an offensive bumper sticker, I'd get pulled over by the cops?

Their excuse was that if someone calls and complains that the plates are offensive, they have to recall the plate and I have to reselect a new "message". This costs more $$ for me and the DMV. I told them I would take my chances, but they still said "NO". So I tweaked it just so they would approve the plates.

Yeah FL paper had an article last week about this. They met at the capital to discuss new slang terms, & other offensive slogans to put on the ban list for plates. They do it every year.

yeah, it's $43/year here for the state plate, and $73/year for the Cornhusker fan plates.... Since I think so little of the huskers, I'll go with the new retarded looking plate instead! lol
