dirty A/C cabin filter...air flow restriction?

just bought 01 Cl-S w/53K mi., and think volume of air through vents is kinda low. Being curious, I compared it to a "certified" one at a acura dealership, that one definitely performs better. I compared them equally (upper setting only, max fan speed, no defrost, a/c off, recirculate off) and it seems like mine has less air flow, not a huge difference but i can tell they're definitely not the same. Can the two (dirty?) filters be the most likely cause? If anyone has experienced this, or could tell a difference in volume after a replace, i'd greatly appreciate your feedback!! The mechanic at dealership said first thing to check is the filter, but could also be some else like debris, etc. obstructing fan motor(hope nothing more serious than that)$$$$ , i saw posts for do it yourself filter replacement, but im sure i'll f#@k something up, so i'll leave it to them. I hear about $100+, ouch!
