problems w/ front end

I recently put on some 18'' motegi racing rims and 235/ 40 yokes along w/ a few other mods on my ’03 CL-S w/ 6 speed. Well, the problem I'm having is over the last week my driver side front wheel was start to have a mechcanical grinding noise/ sensation. I took it to the dealership here in Albuquerque and the told me that everything looked fine mechanically. They deduced that the after market wheels were probably the problem. They told me that Acura had put out a bulletin in '02 stating that it wasn't a good idea to add after market wheels and tires to the CL-S and the TL-S. I had the Discount Tire take a look at the tire in question and they found nothing wrong with it. Has anyone ever heard of this before? I can't imagine how wheels could cause a grinding issue with the cars front driver side. Plus, it took a month+ with the tires before the issue started. I talked to Comptech and my local tuner shop and neither one have ever heard of adding wheels causing any kind of issue to the CL-S. Plus 90% of the folk on this web page have after market wheels.

Any help would be appreciated.

FYI here is a list of the mods:
Comptech Exhaust
Comptech Sway Bars
Comptech Springs
Neuspeed Front Strut Brace
AEM Cold Air Intake

On order/ waiting to go on:
Neuspeed Short Shift Kit
Magnaflow High Flow Cat
AEM Underdrive Pulleys
Momo Pedal Set

What is the WIDTH and OFFSET of your Rims?
That’s where I would start looking.

the wheels are +45 and the width is 7.5''

That offset # was supposed to be good according to Discount Tire computer.

It could be as stupid as a pebbel in between your brake pad and rotor. I don't see how putting a wheel the is the same diameter as stock could cause that.

check your wheel well and look for shiney spots where the wheel might be rubbing?

Looks like the Motegi website lists all the offsets of their wheels, so I would check your style to make sure that it's a +45.

I think a +45 offset and 235/40/18 tires is cutting it pretty close for clearance.

My wheels ar 8"s wide ona 235 tire and I don't rub. I've been in a car that rubs.....it doesn't sound mechanical at all.

you may have just gotten a bad bearing, same thing happened to my BMW 323, and we never put on aftermarket wheels, sometimes the parts are bad out the box, and snow and salt don't help either...

There's also that slight chance (depending on the style of rim) that the spokes may be grinding against the brake caliper. I've had that happen to me in the past with another car of mine where the offset was correct, but the spoke design interfered with the calipers. If the spokes cleared by just 1 more millimeter, the rims would've been perfect.

Did put the stock wheels back on an the problem when away. Then I swapped the 2 front tires to see if it was a particular tire. I haven't driven it much since I did this but, the probelm hasn't resurfaced. I'm just worried that it will come back at anytime. I can say for sure that it's not a pebble in the rotor, though. I really think that something is wrong with the bearings but, the dealership won't work on the car(under warranty) unless it's having the problem with the stock wheels on the car. They did offer to pul apart the front end at $85 on hr. Forget that!!! I guess we'll have to wait and see.
